Because he is hyped and marketed by the PGA Tour?

Stats comparison: Kaymer vs. McIlroy Scoring: 69.4 vs 70.9 Driving Acc.: 57 vs 62 Driving Dist.: 291 vs 300 GIR: 70 vs 66 Putts per GIR: 1.7 vs 1.798 McIlroy seems to be the worse putter (he is currently ranking around 130th in Putts per GIR). Other than that they seem quite similar. But putting nowadays is just so important.... Keep in mind, Kaymers stats are from the European Tour and McIlroys from the PGA Tour and all stats are from 2010.

I think both of them have lots of potential, but Kaymer is a more solid and consistent player at this point. He is some years older too, so that would make sense. Both of them have proved this year that they belong in the winners circle, I hope we get to see lots of good golf from them in the years to come.

I think Kaymer learning to win on the EPD and European Challenge tours has helped him greatly.

Kaymer won 8 times in 14 months on those 2 tours so he effectively learnt to win there before moving to the European Tour and World Stage. McIlory started on The European tour and has struggled to close events out.

Kaymer is the more complete player for now, McIlroy maybe in a few seasons but I do believe he should have stayed in Europe until he won atleast 5 titles.

I think Kaymer learning to win on the EPD and European Challenge tours has helped him greatly.

I follow the EPD Tour a bit - most of the guys will never make it anywhere, then you have the guys who slowly grind it out and will make it to the higher tours eventually. And then you had Kaymer - he just crushed his opposition within a short time span and moved on. Back then you got an early idea that something was in the making. Learning to win is great, but i dont know how much that helps you if your opponents are just so much worse than you.

mcilroy, because his swing is prettier.

Are you serious? Who cares what your swing looks like - it has to be efficient, thats all that counts, correct Mr. Trevino?

Stats might be fun to look at, but can not determine toughness, heart, and the will to beat the crap out of everyone. But then again......... who did "Seve" ever beat.

Mcilroy because of what JWL1957 said. He's a tougher player and because he is such an aggressive sometimes it backfires. Kaymer I think will be a solid player that won't really make front pages but Mcilroy will. I like exciting golfers, they seem to do better, think of the top 2 players in the world. Very exciting players.

I think it does though as winning is winning, it's all about the mental strength to dig deep and get the job done. Kaymer has that, when he beat Hansen in the BMW play-off that was the making of him as he had thrown away a big lead, The Dunhill in 2008 is the onnly one that I can think Kaymer let go.

McIlroy has shown he doesn't know how to do that yet, the players who have beaten McIlory to victory a lot have been ranked much lower than him, Lucquin at Omega Masters, Wen - Tang at at the Hong Kong Open, Dyson at The Dunhill etc I know he has won twice sinow but I feel he still lets more get away from him. I do like Rory but Kaymer is better at this moment in time, and I am starting to think Rory must be getting hyped beyond belief, also whoever says McIlroy is tougher is nonsense I think Kaymer is probably only second to Woods in the mental strength aspect of his game, which is startling when you consider he is 25.

qtong - Kaymer will make more headlines than McIlory as he will win more tournies, probably playing less 'Hollywood Golf' but will still win more.

I thought Kaymer was very impressive in his win at the PGA. He is a good player.

He is very good, I think Kaymer, McIlroy, Dustin Johnstone and Anthony Kim will be the dominant forces over the next 10 years, Tiger, Phil et all will win tournaments but those 4 will take over.

Without Kaymer's PGA victory I would pick McIlroy without a doubt. Still think McIlroy will have more wins, but it's close.

For pure excitement I pick McIlroy without a doubt.

Everyone.

Strokeplay, matchplay - he didn't care but his matchplay record was (ahem) unmatched. If you were picked to play against him in the old World Matchplay Championship or the Ryder Cup then best to pack a few spare pairs of trousers, because the likelihood is you'd be cr*pping yourself before the first ball was hit.
