Not sure about this one. The Wii motion plus is actually very accurate so I can see how it could help trace the swing shape, etc. but that said, I don't see how this would really help with grip and clubface position, etc. given that the Wii controller is shaped nothing like a real grip.

Read the reviews on Amazon .

There are only 2 reviews so far - one good, one bad. Take note that you also need the Wii Balance Board.
Both reviews agree that it's slow, and that the Ledbetter videos are not made for the game, and instead appear to be taken from his DVDs.

I was thinking of buying this, just for fun.I also thinking of modifying an old club with some kind of clip on the shaft that would hold the wii remote in place. That way you could use your proper grip etc, plus make it more fun.

$40 gets you a club w/ a real grip and a compartment for the controller.

The xbox sensor sounds like its going to be the way to go. No remote, so you can actually hold one of your clubs. They are saying it has taken the wii technology 5 steps further. Lets hope it works with Tiger Woods 10 or 11.

John Daly is going to have a game that is supposed to be super-realistic as well. It uses the "move" controller for the PS3.

Realistic? They putt with the flagstick in the hole. FAIL.

John Daly's game would only be realistic if ____________________ (insert your own drinking, shirtless, ten-ex-wives joke here).

Yeah.. I don't know if I wanna be buying anything with Daly's name attached, mostly because if the product was that good they could have got someone more respectable to endorse it.Being able to open and close the clubface like that is cool though, I wonder if they've got the right ball flight laws in there..

How can this be even called close to realistic - just take putting for example. If you putt like this for real you would end up anywhere but close to the hole with all the movement going on, and here it goes right at it - LOL.
You could probably swing that thing in a minicircle and get a 300y drive - yeah right. So what about proper hinging actions, forearm & shoulder rotations, proper sequencing of the release?

Its a nice gimmick - but other than that, this thing teaches you absoultly nothing about a golf motion.

I agree! Most people I know that play TW on the Wii leave it in 'normal' mode, so all their shots are right down the middle and they shoot 60s all the time. They don't even know there is a more advanced mode that tracks their swing more realistically. One of my friends found out that he could hit 300yd drives, basically straight every time if he stood backwards to the screen and snapped his arm back towards the screen (think the back-swing in bowling, but only faster).

The main problem with these golf 'simulators' is that every shot you hit has 'perfect contact', if they took all the 'body motion' into account, these guys would be topping / fatting / toeing every other shot....but then they wouldn't sell any games, because it would be tooooo hard.

It would be cool if the XBOX360 kinect culd pick up on dipping, and genral body movement in a golf game and give you a top, or a fat shot depending on your body movement...

I agree, somewhat. These 'games' claim to be realistic, but every shot is center of the clubface. Yes, I know no one would buy the game if it took years to learn it. (duh) But, it would be fun for those that are golfers to add one more bit of realism to it and pick up on thin/fat shots or toe/heel shots. That's all I'm saying.

You can shank shots in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 using the Tour Swing mode. Also, you can push or pull full swings and putts depending on your swing path. It's pretty damn fun. I'm going to get one of those Chicken Sticks to help hold me over through the long winter months here in Michigan.

It's been raining here alot and I hadn't golfed in over a week but I did get in several rounds on this game. Today managed to get in a real nine holes and shot a 62

I normally shoot 42-45 on nine, a bad game is anything above 45. The wii swing really solidfied itself into my real game and my putting was messed up as well. I had to laugh after taking a 10 on the 4th hole and I just gave up caring about a score for the day and spent the last 5 holes trying to salvage my game. I did manage to bogey the 7th and 8th holes then end strong with a triple ;-/ This winter, ps2 golf with the old fashioned controller...

    • For someone with a very consistent swing speed and ball strike, upgrades may improve performance. For everyday golfers, probably not. I'm a rather odd player. I usually get best performance from basic pro or tour heads, but with lighter stock shaft from the model's standard driver set up. (Yes, current EXS is an exception.) When I get a full driver fitting, I usually try a couple of modest upgrade  (not super magic) shafts. Most of the time upgrade gives a couple of extra yards, or 10 yards less. Remember this about stock shafts: They are matched to a particular driver model to fit the type of player likely to adopt that model. Also, most OEMs offer a variety of stock shafts in their drivers. Test for which one works best. And, the final decider...
    • Uh, seeing you're having trouble with hit-and-miss performance from inherited clubs... Get Fitted! IF the 910H pair don't work, swap them out. Also, only two degrees separation in loft is not much. You might consider a 4W (much more reliable than a 3W) plus hybrid. This would give more distance separation than two Hs. For hybrid, get one you can hit... Maybe a more benevolent 4H. Quite often I try to brand match my bridge clubs (FWs and Hs), and my irons and wedges... but not always. Whatever works!
    • Like others have said, get fitted. Since 2011, I have played some combination of 4W + 7W. I had a Cobra 3H and 4H a couple of years back, and would swap out the 7W for a 3H in cold months (keep out of cold wind, and rough thinner for wayward drives.) The 7W matched up with yardage often with 3H; the current 4H goes almost as long as 7W, but has a lower trajectory. 4H also bumped out 4i in last bag redo; I learned to hit stinger with 4H so that's my driving iron on tight holes with shallow landing area. Again, a side-by-side test will tell you which way to go. If 5W or 3H is meh, keep the 7W. Also, are you looking to replace the 7W with a 5W or 3H, or add a second bridge club (5W or 3H) to your bag?
    • Makes sense and aligns with other literature. Static stretching, especially for longer durations, can impede performance in strength and power activities. I would not want to do like hamstring, quad, and calf stretches then go immediately sprint. To me that sounds like a terrible Idea. I would rather start off walking, then jogging, then running, then ramp up to sprinting.  To me, static stretching isn't even a warmup activity. I like the term warmup; you want to get some exertion going before the activity.      a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; }
    • Going to Florida for the usual February golf trip, and with our current weather, that date won't get here soon enough. Heading to Augusta GA for the Tuesday Master's practice round, will definitely get some golf in while I'm in the area for a few days. Hope to be able to catch up with @coachjimsc if he's around. Then it's back to Scotland first of July.  Playing 7 new courses, can't wait for that.  Then somewhere after that is the Rhode Island CC Member-Guest and then my normal October golf trip to Myrtle Beach.
