Went to the Deutsche Bank yesterday with my son and, as we were heading out, passed by the 9th green just as Ian Poulter sliced his approach from the rough over the gallery right next to the snack bar.

After taking a few minutes to get a drop and avoid a TV tower, he chunked a wedge off some wood chips, slammed his club into the ground as hard as possible (I'm surprised he didn't break either the club or his wrist in the process) and generally acted like Judge Smails nephew in Caddy Shack.

Which of course prompted the crowd to start making wisecracks about his wardrobe, which included some superb red plaid slacks and red and blue bowling shoes.

With his swing which has a lot of issues - when it goes bad, it's gonna go really bad.

Plus his temperament sucks which costs him a lot of money.

It's funny, people (me included) make fun of Sergio for this kind of thing all the time, yet Poulter rarely seems to get the same reaction despite having just as poor an attitude.Followed him at a pro am here in Ireland a few months back and found him to be rude and arrogant, had his caddie screaming at autograph seekers (mostly kids) to get out of his way.Do you need to be like that at a charity Pro Am? Every other golfer we followed (Mostly far bigger names than him) were very approachable and pleasant. Add to that his attitude during actual play was terrible - permanent scowl on his face, endless moaning etc.Wouldn't be so bad if he actually had a few majors under his belt, but 'Prima Donna' sums it up I think.

Poulter makes us feel better about our mental weaknesses...he gets angry like many of us. But I realize he might not be pleasant to deal with up close.

That sounds like Ian being himself... http://thesandtrap.com/forum/threads...an-Poulter-Ass

Based on his dandy outfit, maybe he was on the rag?

Ive always thought Poulter was a bit of a jerk. He just has this sort of smug, "Im better than you" attitude.

Agreed he has a terrible swing. Serious issues with timing. He posted a video on twitter where he chunked 3 5 irons in a row. Maybe he should become stacked?

Based on his cover photo that month (Golf Digest) his "outfit" in the swing sequence seemed strange. Ugly yes, but so dark it was hard to see his swing.

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.

No harm, it's not something anyone should copy.

Gotta love duffers making fun of a pros swing and calling it terrible....

Since I have eyes, can I make fun of his clothing and outbursts?

As Pro swings go, it is, simple as.
