Ovechkin . . . cheap shots . . . needs to be taught a lesson...

I have no love for him either, but I wouldn't use Ovechkin as the proof of bias toward him. Ovy seems to be able to play by a different set of rules than the rest of the league. He runs people from behind pretty much nightly.

Can someone tell me why Cindy Crosby is such a B*tch and gets away with all the cheap shot b*llshit he pulls.....I love how Ovechkin and Stamkos play all out all the time and dont take cheap shots- they both will get in your face if they need too...Cindy cries to the refs after every whistle and doesnt get called on anything he does....I have no respect for him someone is going to run him one of these days and i cant wait for that to happen....I dont want him hurt but he needs to be taught a lesson...

Do you play hockey? Or watch hockey? He's the captain, so he's one of only a few people that are allowed to talk to the refs. Watch any NHL game and watch the Cs and As and see how often they talk to the refs. Crosby does it the same amount as anyone else. You won't be able to prove me wrong on that because I'm not.

And really, your whole argument takes a giant dump when you state that the Great Ape doesn't take cheap shots. The guy sprayed a ••••ing kid waving his team's flag. Not to mention the other crap Great Ape has pulled through the years.

That call the other night where he slew foots Callahan and then Callahan got called for the interference was one of the worst calls I have ever seen.

Have you ever played hockey? That's not a slewfoot, that's two guys leaning on each other and trying to maintain some sort of balance. There was no follow-through, nothing. The interference happened BEFORE both players went down. It's a hockey play, and it looks a whole lot worse in slow motion than in regular speed, where his leg has no "kick" or follow through and he simply appears to be leaning back to his right to gain some balance (because Callahan is interfering and pushing him to the left).

Besides, what are you, a Flyers fan? You probably think Scott Hartnell is cool.

There is an Ovechkin bias to but not like Cindy, Ovechkins are more like the boarderline calls go his way....But I think most of the "boarding" has to do with the whole players turning there backs nowadays...That is gonna get someone hurt! Cindy takes cheap shots on someone and then they get called for it...

Uhm, just because you think something or have an opinion doesn't make it true. I've stated a fact, you're stating what you think. Crosby talks to the refs the same amount as everyone else. He doesn't whine to the press - if anyone whined it was Dubinsky, duh - and he's been a stand-up guy for the NHL and the Penguins since he entered the league.

And the call on Sid later in the game on - of all people - Sean Avery? For a "tripping" call that wouldn't be penalized in an adults vs. kids game? Get real. It wasn't a slew foot. It's a hockey play, and it happens - and goes unpenalized - several times per game, at every level of the game. Callahan initiated the contact, was called for interference, and Sid was trying to regain balance and put his right foot down. There's no follow-through, there's no kicking or sweeping. Plain as day.

If you knew much about hockey, you'd know that the good players are always the targets of opposing players, and 99% of them don't dish out nearly as much as they get (Ovechkin is in the 1%).

Wow, great spelling and grammar. Always a pleasure to argue with someone of such incredible intellect. He's not a good fighter, but at least he's fought. That's more than you can say for Ovechkin.

Are you 12? This is the most immature post I have ever read on the Crosby vs. haters topic. The name calling is absolutely ridiculous...not to mention about 4 years past being effective. It might have fired up Pittsburgh fans/Crosby supporters for the first year or two...MAYBE. Now it actually just makes me laugh. Year after year he continues to play at a superior level, and all the haters continue to say is "Cindy this and Cindy that". If he was on your team you'd be wearing his jersey at games, going nuts in the seats as he night in and night out continues to pick teams apart.

There's much more to disliking Crosby than his whining or cheap shots (I could make a list, but who cares?!?). It's more a matter of oversaturation in the Canadian market. If we were forced to see Henrik Zetterberg, Alex Burrows, or Anze Kopitar (some folks are probably saying - who?) splashed all over our TV screens and hockey mags, every GD day, we'd be sick of them too.

Just when one sponsor tones down the nauseating ads (Tim Hortons - gag) another one begins (e.g. Sport Chek). Enough is enough for me personally. Then again, I'm still extremely sick of Gretzky too.

Probably similar to how a really big fan of, oh, some guy in the top ten feels about Tiger Woods (fans of Phil don't quite work there).

When Crosby name comes up in the locker room at one of my games the first thing everyone says is he's such a crybaby and should stop complaining..(these are hockey fans that play hockey)

The problem with stupid statements like that is that it's so easy to prove you wrong and declare victory. He talks to the refs no more and no less than other captains around the league. If that qualifies as whining, Dubinsky had a full-blown temper tantrum and bawling fit during the intermission interview.

He is the face of the league, yep, because he's good, lives up to the hype, handles the media well, doesn't complain, and works harder than virtually everyone else in the game. The rest, nope, that's your opinion and I don't "know" it. The opinions of someone who can't spell.

Even though I'm a Pens fan, I gotta agree with you there. There are 24 other teams that haven't had the chance to participate yet in the WC. I was hoping for the original rumors of the Rangers playing in the new Yankees Stadium. And what about the teams in warm weather cities? I get the whole marketing idea of having them play outdoors in the cold and snow, but how about have those teams host against teams in warm weather cities?

Because the winter classic is all about making money and getting the most exposure they can. Sorry, but the Panthers aren't going to draw. Especially on a day traditionally heavy with football.

For the same reason it is always Pitt, Det, and Chi on the NBC broadcast. Those are the teams that draw nationally. Nobody outside of Broward County cares about the Panthers. People IN Broward County barely care about the Panthers.

Flyers on a roll again.  Just beat Boston, Pittsburgh, and Montreal all in close games.  Right now the Flyers and Penguins are looking like the two best teams in the East and it looks like Malkin is finally getting going.

Yeah, he's been nursing an injury.

The Flyers are a good team if they can avoid being stupid with regards to penalties. Goaltending is still a question mark with them - Bobrovsky's never started more than 35 games in a season and Boucher is... eh.

Pittsburgh's doing better than they did last year. Last year was mud. :-P
