X-Forged or X Prototypes

Was that your example of good looking irons or ugly ones? Personally I think both of those look really good.

Anything like these hybrid iron sets qualify as the ugliest irons ever made.

I would never carry any of those irons. Much rather get a set of Ping shovels than those hybrid irons.

I think the X prototypes are good looking. Theres just something special about them, just looking at them makes me think I could hit some crazy good shots. You dont see too many people on the forum with them either, kinda rare.

they're spendy and the price so far hasn't budged all year.

I've demo'ed them and they actually play very similar to the X-Forged. Very forgiving and the head profile is almost nearly identical. Now if the price was just a bit lower...but then again, even if Callaway makes great blades, they just can't contend with the tried and true Mizuno or Titleist as far as blades go.

I'd argue that point. I actually prefer the X-Proto's to many Titleist/Mizuno blades. Even though I'm not a huge fan of the topline appearance of the Proto's, I put them right up there with my (previous) Scratch SB-1's. Very good clubs, I wish Callaway would market them a bit better.

they are discontinued now , right?

not that I know of. the X-proto's were just released to the public this past year. I haven't heard anythign about Callaway producing any other replacement blades so I'd say they'll stick around for a bit longer.

now the X-Forged has been discontinued and wll soon be replaced by the RAZR X-forged or whatever which I am not a fan of. Callaway has been producing these cavity clubs that have that weird cavity profile that the Diablo's have. Not a fan.

They're nice and easy to hit though . . .

Do you remember the irons Browning had out in the 1980s? The looked like chippers.

My dad had those, lol. Boy they were FUGLY. The woods too.

Yes, the clubs do seem pretty bad. But, what about the poor kid in the picture? He's about 2 years old and he looks like he's sportin' a hair piece--and a bad one at that.

Agree on both points. Well said. Razr X-forged says "nice thin blade" to me, not what I've seen in the pictures.

Yea, I hit em at Golfsmith one day, don't think it's possible to hit an "off center" shot on them. Almost too easy to hit i think.

But still, I couldn't stand that big thing coming out the back end of the long irons. lol so odd and distracting to me

Believe it or not. Back when I was 16 (1999) in high school I really liked these irons but could never afford them.

Cleveland VAS for sure. I played 18 with a guy who had them back in the day, and he used an orange Pinnacle ball. When he took out his putter, the black one with yellow sight lines (Slotline Inertial maybe) that actuall had ONSET... well the world stopped rotating for a few holes, dogs and cats were playing together in backyards that lined the course, and the hot cart girl just drove right on past us all day as well. ALL DAY.

Let’s not forget the honeycomb.
As I recall, there was also a set of woods that had a dimensional honeycomb grid behind a layer of clear acrylic (or whatever the material they used for the face of the club). I can’t find a photo of it though.
