I've got a jumbo grip on my Scotty. I definitely think my hands are quieter, but I can't say that it has translated into actually taking fewer putts out on the course. I think when I need to regrip it I'll stay with jumbo because I like the feel.

I play with a superstroke grip. My hands are big too. the superstroke allows me to separate my hands and keep my palms facing each other, which helps to keep the clubhead square. Also, no wrist action at all with the superstroke grip. it literally has taken 8 strokes off my handicap. I used to shoot 35-38 putts per round and now I'm in the neighborhood at 29-31. I'll never play without that grip on any putter I'll ever try or use.

I just want to note that mine is a Winn AVS. My hands are big (measured to at least a midsize in grips for all my other clubs), but the primary reason I got the jumbo grip was to steady my hands.

That's useful for me to hear. I play midsized grips as well, but could probably fit jumbo sized grips. I've toyed with the idea of getting a jumbo putter grip to steady my hands since they tend to feel unstable sometimes when wrapped around the standard sized grip I currently have.

I play a superstroke which is what CHoi plays. I play an oversize grip on my clubs, and the superstroke putter grip has been wonderful.

I play an oversized grip, not KJ sized, medium oversized. I have small hands, ML cadet. The really big ones took hands completely out of it for me, an issue with longer puts. Not a big difference in scores, but I feel that that the occasional 5+ footer with something at risk goes in more often.

I bought a midsize Yes! grip for my Yes! Tracy just before setting off to university, and didn't get a chance to regrip and try it out. I'm in a similar position with big, gangly hands and hope that it'll help me get a softer, more precise touch instead of feeling like I'm holding a miniature club.

I used to be a pretty good putter, and after reading frequent articles about getting the hands more out of the stroke I moved up in putter grip sizes, first to midsize, then jumbo (but never KJ Choi-size). I also "bought into" all the Pelz arguments of straight-back-straight-through, etc. It seemed my putting got gradually worse and worse, but I still kept down the path of big grip/SBST stroke. Finally I decided I needed to try what I used to do when I seemed to putt a lot better, and I switched back to standard size grips and started adopting more of an Utley-taught stroke. Wonderfully, my feel seems to be returning, and I'm starting to drop a lot more longer putts now, and also keeping myself out of 3-putt territory much more. I really am feeling the putterhead again and the feel of a pendulum much more, which I just didn't get with the big grips. Big grips was an interesting experiment and seemed to make intellectual sense, but it turned me away from being a "feel player" which I think is really one of my strengths.

love them.
they take the tension out of your hands and wrist tendons and relocate the load to the forearms and bicep muscles.
i have noticed an improvement in my 8-12 foot putts..

always give way to the Greenskeeper!!

in my bag:
whatever clubs i find left behind on the course... But the Ping Anser will never be beaten!!

BALL: only get off tractor for PRO v1's..... Now, which way to Q School???

I have a Jumbo white Iomic grip on my scotty. Jumbo in Japan is barely jumbo in the US though. Its larger than a normal pistol grip, but not as big as some of the odyssey grips. I think it has really helped my confidence when putting.

    • My apologies, I clearly didn't go back and read the entire post, you're right to ask the question.  In a high-school competition, I'd be surprised if the pro shop was the authority, the Committee.  I've worked a few high school events, and its usually a small number of the coaches involved, and any actual officials they've been able to get to volunteer.  As has been mentioned in a number of threads over the years, golf professionals don't always have great knowledge of the rules, or may occasionally prefer to manufacture rulings to help keep players happy or keep play moving..
    • Yes, the pro shop was wrong. If the drop zone was GUR, @DaveP043 pointed out that what is someone who drops in the drop zone to do? Get another drop out of it? Golf has good and bad breaks, like life. Sorry to your daughter, @Jeremy Howard, but she had to play it (as she did). Some of my best memories and best shots are where I overcame some obstacle or bad break.

    • Hello everyone. I am putting in a 15x12 putting green in the backyard as part of our pool project. There is a chance I can make it slightly larger but this is what is currently In the design. I attaching a drawing I made of the green and the space it is going in (ignore the kidney shape).    I was wondering how you would lay out holes, slope/break, etc. I keep going back and forth and am looking for some suggestions. Obviously would want some straight putts to work on form and stroke but would also like some break and other putts to work on.    Thanks in advance.
