Hey guys,
I have gone through two drivers and one, being my current, is adjustable. I had the 09 Burner, which didn't like too much at address plus the stock stiff shaft was just too unstable for my liking. Now I have the Dymo STR8 fit and it has been hit and miss. More than half of the time I am not liking the drives with it and its not just all between the ears. I can't seem to hit this driver nor the old Burner.. I think its time to go and get fit for a driver, I did with my irons and it did wonders, same with the wedges.

My choices are the following:
1. TM R9 - I like it because of the shape and its a bit smaller
2. Nike VR

Those are really the two I am looking at right now.. Please throw in some suggestions for some I might want to look into.

Thanks!

I think the iMix technology from Callaway is a little underrated. I love the FT-9 head and being able to switch it out with shafts is awesome, allowing me to hit it high or low. I think its getting pretty cheap now, so maybe check em out.

But of the two you have suggested, i prefer the R9. I never really liked Nike (idk.....), and the R9 looks soooo sweet at adress. Hope you pick a winner! Cheers..

I guess you should go a for a fitting, that should give you some suggestions on what you should do. I would take that information and probably reshaft one of your current
drivers if possible. It isn't likely that the driver heads have anything wrong with them so the next thing to do after reshafting is get lesson help if you're still having a problem.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

What is your current ball flight with the Nike Dymo? What do you not like about your drives with it? Suggestion wise there are so many out there that are great. Titleist 909D3, Ping G15, Callaway FT Tour, and Nike VR Tour are a few that really get great reviews out of the newer drivers. If you like the adjustability you may want to wait for the Titleist 910 series drivers. I think you can just pick out a driver head that you like and the most important part is the shaft that is in the club head.

I love my Adams 9015D which plays a slight fade and my 07 Burner TP which plays a slight draw. I've been gaming the Burner TP lately and its very consistent even though it's not as long as the Adams.

you've tried two drivers, both of which weren't fitted for you with the proper shaft, and you're looking for suggestions on a "better" driver?
Both of the drivers you tried out are great drivers...a "better" driver would be one that you go and get fitted for the proper shaft. If that doesn't fix it, then its your swing.

to be more specific, what exactly do you mean by "hit or miss" with your Nike driver?
my suggestions:

- if you have a proper swing, go get fitted.
- if you have a crappy swing causing your drives to be hit or miss, then go get fitted anyway, then go fix your swing.

Most players with good swings can hit any driver well even though it isn't fit for them. The swing will make the driver better of course but having the optimum driver for your swing will get the best results. Don't just look in the equipment department since you did say you aren't always satisfied.

i really prefer adjustable drivers now. The nike driver is a good driver but I dont know what they were thinking with the headshape. Its like inbetween a square and an oval, plus tiger woods cant hit it worth a crap

#3 on that list is a club that I have been meaning to try. None of the people I know play it or do any of the shops carry one that is used.

Nike VR tour is a nice driver, also the titelist d3 driver is really good.

I have to disagree. If you have a proper swing, go get fitted. If you have a crappy swing, fix your swing FIRST, and then go get fitted. Why get a driver fitted, and then fix your swing, and then be stuck with a driver that was fitted to your old swing?

Well its not my swing.. I can hit every club just the way I am wanting to and when I use other drivers, its fine. I am thinking the shaft I am using might not be what I am needing so I am going to try a different one and also get fitted for a new driver..

At address the Nike driver doesn't please me too much but the R9 definitely does.

Just curious why would you get a driver that you didn't like at address? If I'm not happy with a club at address I'm probably not even going to bother swinging it since it's in my head I don't like it already.

if you wanna talk about every club in the bag, i look like a +2 handicap going by my irons. Drivers are by nature, much harder to control and doesn't blanket over swing errors, thus even the smallest swing error can have some big effects on your drives as opposed to your irons. At 10.7 handicap, i'd venture to say it has more to do with your swing than the driver.

regardless, if you like the R9...then why buy a new driver? Get fitetd for a shaft and stick it on the R9 and be done with it.

As Golfro say's go get fitted,

I was going to replace my driver a few months back, its a taylormade r7 CGB Max, instead I had it fitted. Best £50 i have ever spent. Only reason I may change it now is its rather dated but at the same time while its working it isnt going anywhere :)

The schoolteacher was taking her first golfing lesson. "Is the word spelt p-u-t or p-u-t-t?" she asked the instructor. "P-u-t-t is correct," he replied. "Put means to place a thing where you want it. Putt means merely a vain attempt to do the same thing."
