Rules are simple, and can be played with two or three or more people.

Closest to the hole chooses a location from which to chip or pitch.

Holed shots are worth 10 points. Within one clublength is 5 points, within two is 3 points, within three is 1 point. Outside of that range but on the green, -5 points. Miss the green and it's -10.

Play to 50 (or 20 or something if you're not very good). You can play by yourself and just count how long it takes you to get to your point total.

It encourages somewhat realistic shots and makes you focus not just on getting closer than someone else, but getting the ball really close to the hole: putts inside of three feet are rarely missed, putts from 3-6 feet are made a good percentage of the time, while putts from outside of 6 and 9 feet are missed with higher frequencies.

Play something similar but not with points like this. I'll give it a try sounds fun :)

IMO the points system makes it a big deal. Less about any "head to head" and "just getting inside someone" and more about always getting at least the one point.

I like it. Even though I usually do my short game practice alone, counting how many "holes" it takes to get to 50 will be fun. I just hope I can be objective when choosing the next location.

Also have to find a time when I can be alone on the chipping green. Don't want to be dodging other players shots when I'm chasing my ball.

Often play similar games, but with 1, 2, 3 points instead. Also have putting games all over the green that works the same way. Sometimes we use two balls.
