I currently hit a very consistant high draw that carrys around, 280y and rolls around 25y. My swing speed is 108-113 MPH.

I max out my driver club head speed at 128, but I would never try and swing it that hard on the course.

Re: How Far Do You Hit A 5 Iron

BTW if it helps my 6iron Swing speed in 118MPH.

And I went from hitting my 6 iron 175 yards, to 200 yards. Just looking at some luanch stats in increased my club head speed by 7 MPH

I usually hit my 7Iron, 160-165M (175-180 yards)

CG 14 were horrible wedges! If anything, if you can find some brand new CG12's buy them, they are the best built wedge on the market.

Umm Forged is always eaiser to bend. Only difference it makes to me is they forged feels 1000000000x Better

This is the result of having way too much free time at work. I act big on the internet to make up for my lack of distance in real life so let's have some fun. Here we go...

Your were hitting your driver consistently 280 yards carry and 25 yard roll with a swing speed of 108-113 mph and a max of 128 mph. You also state that your 6 iron swing speed is 118 mph . With the 7 mph gain from your new shafts, that would put you at a swing speed of 125 mph with your 6 iron. So you can pretty much swing your 6 iron the similar to that of your max driver swing speed. 7 iron: 175-180 yards 6 iron: before 175 yards, now 200 yards 5 iron: 205 yards driver: 305 yards (280 carry + 25 roll)
Might want to get your facts stright.

So did I get my facts straight?

I'm not sure calling someone out on the forum explicitly or in a dedicated thread is the right thing to do, but I have wondered the same things as well as many others.

I think he asked for it, and nothing insulting has been said.

I'm sure it isn't a polite thing to do but also pulling stuff out of his ass is not all that polite either. Got tired of all the bs so acted upon it while I have the time.

I guess he hasn't found a way to explain his uber fast swing speed with his 6 iron. This kid is a joke. More so than the rest. I'd be surprised if he actually has a plus handicap.

I am always amused by the way online annonimity inflates peoples abilities. Heard a saying on a business trip out west, "All hat, no cattle" that sums it up in my mind.

You have too much time. Funny stuff. I take anything people say on here with a grain of salt in regards to how far they hit it, what there index is, all that stuff. I know I don't lie but I really don't expect others to not.

Its way too easy to work out how he does it.

He plays with a 47 inch 6 iron

This. I don't get on thesandtrap.com forums to boast or brag about my golf skills. I enjoy the community, the advice, and off-topic discussions the most. IDK why anyone would feel the need to exaggerate their golf game...but who knows, he could be telling the truth.

I agree with you on that one. I feel like a significant amount of people lie about distances and their index. I'm not claiming everyone does, there are a lot of reasonable people on here who just enjoy to talk golf and get advice and stuff, while others lie to the extent that they contradict themselves in their next post.

I am in no way a great golfer, yet I'm satisfied with my index after 2 years of playing and do not lie about my distances. I'm the first one to admit it, I'm in no way a strong kid and a great drive for me is in the 270-280 range. My only hope is that there are more people on this forum who enjoy to talk about golf and other things more than to lie about their skills. Now, going back to the topic, this might not have been the best solution but I'm with you on the fact that he's been "trolling" the forum for a while. Some of the things he says don't make any sense or contradict previous posts right away. What if he actually is a +0.2 and has an awesome swing and drives 305 yards? Am I the only one to see a new Tiger Woods in him? Haha

7 iron: 175-180 yards

Not sure about the swingspeed data, but if he calculates it using ball speed or distance, then applying a factor, there could be some variance. I'm not sure how many amateurs have the exact same swing speed on every swing. I know I sure don't.

A guy consistently carrying a 5-iron 205 (not unrealistic) would probably get quite a few 300+ yard drives. He also might hit his 7 iron 180 and hit the odd 6-iron out to 200 yards. Sounds like a typical overswinging amateur who worries more about distance than accuracy. I've had rounds like that when I was young(er) and (more) foolish. BTW - you forgot to include a lot of his even goofier posts.

    • Day 4, 1/2/26.  Played 18 today;  didn't get a chance to warm up (had I known the range was closed, I'd have hit balls at home first).  Played okay, 92 with three balls in the water.  It was raining for more than half the round and I didn't quite appreciate before today just how much I benefit from roll on both drives and approach shots.  I did not adapt well to this change until about hole 15, which is something I have to figure out.
    • Day 143 1-2 Arch wrist in downswing. Having a SLIGHT cup in the lead wrist at the top now. Only paused swings with some rehearsals before swinging at ball.  Used foam ball.
    • Day 459 - 2026-01-02 Had two guys on GEARS Hybrid, so I hopped on afterward (I'm going to do this a lot more often now). So… I've signed myself up for another month of backswing work in two ways: A little more extension of the trail elbow (got into the upper 90s) Less pelvis turn (low 50s).
    • Day 31 (2 Jan 26) - Usual Friday men’s group shootout - good day of shot making  as most shots were right on line to the target point.  Putter and green reads were solid with some great par saves and a really tricky birdie.
    • Day 13 - 2026-01-02 One hour short game work. Chipping balls to different targets, compass putting drill with 2-3% slope.
