I had to laugh at this. Last night I'm watching the Hawaiian tournament. Furyk, Weir, Ogilvy, and Woods are mic'ed up for sound.

Unfortunately, they hardly played any sound bites from the players, maybe it wasn't fit for T.V.... anyway Tiger misreads a put and taps it to the wrong side of the cup. It doesn't drop. But on his way to tap it in, in a very sarcastic voice, Tiger says, 'Yea, you're a real world class putter, aren't you?'

I gotta huge kick out of this. I've never had the opportunitty to see these guys in real life and for some reason, I just never imagined Tiger saying something that negative. I do that all the time and wife (if she's there) will ride me pretty hard about it. Which just makes it worse. lol

I've never heard pro's talk like this before. I found all the sound bites they played very amusing. I hope they show more tonight... anyone watching that btw?

I am not a huge tiger fan. I don't like the intensity he plays with and the way he works the crowds...but that's me. but I have to say to see them at ease and playing to have some fun was great... I like to hear the stuff in the tee boxes and on the greens and in the trees... they should do that a little more often. the skins game is one I like cause it uses that format where you get to hear there commits and see and feel more of what they go through... that was great.

I laughed when i heard Bobby Clampet say "Tiger doesnt get enough credit for his iron play" c'mon! every announcer, not to mention every golf fan is constantly praising Tiger and every aspect of his game.. give me a break. They're all miced up, funny Tiger seems to be the only one they play. He's hard on himself? he's always hard on himself. He reminds me of an immature 15 yearold going through addolescents.. who's never perfect.

Have you ever heard David Duval mic'ed up? Last year he hit a drive way left (or right, I forget) and he said some pretty blue remarks aimed at himself, I forget exactly what it was, but somethign to the effect of "what a stupid A**hole or something like that...

At the practice rounds for the President's Cup last year, I stood behind Stuart Appleby on the 18th tee and he hit the most horrific looking duck hook I'd ever seen a pro hit and he slams his club into the ground, walks over to his bag and says "you're a f***ing hacker Appleby."

Just out of curiousity, what do you mean by disliking Tiger's intensity? Its his intensity that I love so much, he's focused and hes passionate, he loves to play and loves to win. I'm not criticizing your opinion at all, your absolutely entitled do it, I'm just kind of baffled that its a turnoff because its the exact reason I love watching him so much. Oh yeah, and hes the best of the best!

not at all.. its just for me I enjoy playing golf and also like it when a person can smile and and chat and play to the crowds. his focus for me while it may win him the title of best golfer ever and championships, it isn't a person I would enjoy playing a round with. I like the guys that have fun and are a little more animated with there misses and brides...like Peter Jacobson, Payne Stewart, Sergio García, John Dayle, Lee Trevino, Jim Colbert.... I get focused and take care of my shots and then I go on and keep having fun...then again I'm not playing for 4times more money than I make in one yr....lol

I wish I could play like crap and still finish top 3 on the hardest course setups in the world. "doesn't get enough credit", my hind leg.

Bobby Clampett couldn't be more obvious. I can almost imagine him bouncing along behind Tiger like that tiny dog bounces around the big bulldog in the cartoons. " ... you're the BEST Spike, where we goin' now Spike, can I go too Spike can I can I huh huh?" Aside from that, I always enjoy the Slam. Hawaii is on my dream list.

Did any of you guys here Vijay a couple years ago at the Masters? They have mics in random places all over that course....Vijay was on a tee, back in the trees, where no gallery was allowed...He came out of his shot, blocking it far far right (it was the weekend and he was trying to make a push), and all you hear is Vijay calling himself, "You f-ing fa&g;@t mother fu*ker!!"....I had it Tivo'd, and me and my old man listened to it 20 times and couldn't believe it. More so, I don't know how it didn't turn into a big deal!

They're all human and to get annoyed and swear at yourself the course the ball your club your caddy the wind the trees god or anything else that comes to mind is perfectly natural.

I've been to LOTS of golf tournaments here in Australia and what Tiger said is VERY mild. We actually had a pro (pretty well known here in Aus and also on the european tour back in the late 80's) miss a putt and then punch himself in the head so hard his knees went wobbly for a bit and they almost had to put a count on him.

If you think that Stuart Appleby got a bit fired up, follow his fellow Aussie Robert Allenby for a bit, he leaves you in very little doubt as to what he is thinking

As for me, I never swear and am always very complimentary to myself, and if you believe that you are as big a dickhead as I am!

If you really want to hear the pros, go to the practice rounds when their joking around with each other and the crowds. I always have to follow John Daly for a few holes he always has the crowd laughing with every group he plays with. Tiger can be funny with some groups and if hes with Big John it can get hilarious. Give me the practice rounds live to see them having fun and I'll watch them on TV when their working for the $$$$.

As a newbie to watching golf on TV I've really enjoyed the Grand Slam and Skins Game because you got to see each player make pretty much every shot. Add in the comments (I wonder what Furyk & Woods were talking about when they had their mics covered) and those were my two favorite events I've seen thus far. I know golf is supposed to be a gentlemen's game and whatnot, but it's nice to hear these pros get a little riled once in a while. Golf is just that kind of game.

Here's a good quick story on the pros, being human:

While in NY, a few years ago, I worked security in the lockerroom of the Buick Classic in Westchester. The perfect scenario for me, was a long rain delay, as they would all come back to the lockerroom. I have a few things worth mentioning from that event....

Dave Stockton Jr. is an amazing chinese football player. He can kick one through the uprights with his index finger from about 10 yds away. His caddy, however, sucked.

Billy Andrade is loved by the guys on tour. While they were waiting for the course to dry, they were playing putting games and he was clearly the pioneer. He created teams, rules etc...They were throwing 100 dollar bills around like paper after each game. Hilarious.

Jose Maria Olazabel is the ultimate gentleman. He practiced putting/chipping for hours, even in the rain, and always said hello and made small talk in english. I returned the favor in broken spanish :)

Tom Kite can't deal with playing poorly.....Some guys got pissed, some guys get upset. He ignored his whole entourage and stormed upstairs crying after shooting a 78 (I think) and missing the cut.

I took a leak next to Calcavecchia. Random, but hey- I think it's funny.

My favorite story from that event was this: During the rain delay, caddies and players enter in the same door. Now, there are 2 levels to the lockerroom. Upstairs, where the pros go, is plush leather, flat screens, the whole deal.....they have amazing catered food etc. Downstairs, where the caddies have to stay (my buddy literally had to carry clubs upstairs b/c caddies WERE NOT permitted, no excuses), was chilly, cheap furniture, concrete floor etc. Now, while all the pros are upstairs going nuts on the amazing catered food, enjoying the luxuries, most caddies just stayed downstairs, hung out, listened to music or whatever. Then comes Ben Crenshaw....huge rolling cart of catered food......he offers it all to the caddies, sits down on the concrete floor and eats with them...Hung out for a few hours, discussing random stuff and eating the food....The caddies were all very thankful. I was blown away. (For the record, Dave Stockton Jr's chinese football was also with the caddies)

Omar Uresti got a playing lesson at 7pm in the lockerroom.

Alot of the "B" level players are concerned with paychecks and that's it. From the lesser names, all I heard all day on Friday was cut-talk, money etc.

Tim Herron is hysterical. He doesn't give a shit what people think. He was pounding drives, however he wanted...and he looked at me and said (with cigarette dangling) "That ball has a ****ing steering wheel on it, and I'm making the little ****er do whatever I want it to". Needless to say, he's a confident guy.

I also worked the Sr. PGA Championship in Westchester, for the practice rounds.

Tom Watson is the ultimate gentleman, not afraid to make small talk with anyone.

Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus are both amazing during practice rounds. Arnie invited my old man on to the tee, to help him with club selection. Jack invited my uncle into the fairway, to walk down the hole with him, b/c my uncle (like Jack) had just gotten his hip replaced. He also signed his hip replacement card!

Gary Player looks like he's 38 yrs old, and can still pound it...he also makes alot of little, random, dry jokes.

I know there's more stories in my random events, so let me think of 'em.....Anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy these!
