So i ordered some golfdotz, and let me tell you..... they do not work on golf balls. Half of the dot ripped off with my drive... three holes in a row (3 new balls). I didn't hit the golfdot directly or anything, but i guess it couldn't handle the spin/speed.

Anyway, I decided to use the rest of my golfdotz on my clubs... And it was a success! Tommy Armor III has golfdotz on all his irons and shafts, so thats where i got the idea from. I'm extremely happy with the results i got, so i decided to share them with thesandtrap community! here are some pictures....

hmm.. I have to disagree with you about them not working on golf balls.. I have found these things to work actually perfectly.. I am a long ball hitter and have a big swing and I have never had an issue with the golfdot coming off.. ever.. actually.  I started using these early last year and I am now somewhat of an addict.. I like to have full sleeves of fresh PRO Vs with my mark on it.. my league foursome all know who the SCORPION is..!  Anyway, try applying them on the golfball inside your home (warmer is better).. again I have had an excellent experience with these things and quite frankly, it blows away my old way of marking the ball with a sharpie, looks way tougher..

Regarding the clubs.. I haven't gone that way with them but my kids have used them on their ipads for sure and they love it..

Best of luck in 2011!

I'm glad you have had better luck with them on your balls. I wish they stayed on for me. I put them on the night before i played and literally the first drive rips them up for me .

It was cold when we played though, so maybe that has something to do with it. Hopefully they stay on in the summer!

They never stayed on here either. After the drive or the second shot the thing was always gone.

Danny reviewed the GolfDotz back in 2009.

I have had pretty good experience with them, it helps a lot if you apply to a warm ball.  I used a few in the beginning before I figured that out too.  I applied to a sleeve of balls the night before a round and they all stayed on as if nothing ever hit the ball.  Maybe the Albatros loses a lot of balls if he NEVER had an issue(kidding).  I like them.

I like the sticker on the driver. That looks awesome! I'm going to have to copy your style and do that to mine.

I emailed customer service at golfdotz before i did it and asked them if it would work. They told me yes, and mentioned there are many pros who have done so.

The only thing different than applying it to a ball is that you must burnish them on after you press to get good bonding.

Cool on the clubs.  May have to try that.

I got some GolfDotz with an order from callaway golf preowned and used them.  Add me to the list of people for whom they DID work quite well.  I've used a few of them for more than a round and not had any wear off before the ball was scuffed pretty badly---they last at least as well as sharpie markings.  I was pretty careful when putting them on---did it at home and held as instructed, then carefully rubbed the backing until it fell off.  On a couple, it wanted to stick on a spot or two, so I pressed harder there until it stuck entirely.  I then double-checked that the label was actually pressed against the cover of the ball, on a couple it had bridged across a dimple, so I just used the removed backing to press it in to get good contact.

I also waited a few days to weeks before using the balls.  Between that and the extra care when applying, I wonder if there's an element of either user error or mis-instruction in the cases where they don't work at all.  Also, it could depend on the ball.  I used a couple different ones, but they were all inexpensive (Warbird or e6 I think).  Or maybe there are differences between batches of the labels...

In any case, I think they're a bit too expensive for my tastes.  If I'm going to get custom balls, I'll probably just order a large number of pre-printed ones and not spend a couple minutes per ball putting them on.  That way I can get my own custom art as well, and it's not that expensive (nor that ridiculous a minimum order).  I might get some 'Dotz to put on my clubs, though, that's pretty cool.

In the bag:

T-Zoid Forged 15° 3W, MX-23 4-PW
Harmonized 52° GW, Tom Watson 56° SW, X-Forged Vintage 60° LW

I am going to give them one more chance on balls. I applied them last night inside, and wont be using them until Friday. Temp will be mid 60's and sunny, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I'll let yall know how it turns out for them, also will post pics after the round if they don't last.

Honestly, I don't see how they could. • It's been a little more than a year since I can last remember hitting golf balls and today I just got my second cortisone injection in 11 months. I thought maybe shortly after the first injection I was going to be able to start playing again with therapy but the pain while doing my backswing past halfway just didn't subside like just lifting my hands up in the air did. So today the Orthopedic surgeon put more in the backside of the shoulder than before to address the tendon more. I'm going to try therapy for another 3 months and if I  can't swing the club without pain then I think surgery is going to be my next option.
    • I was just down visiting family in southern California and we played a couple rounds of golf. I hit my ball into the deep rough near some tree's and my cousin's husband offered me his Sim 2 Rescue Hybrid to try out. And I felt the same way, wow! I loved it, it also had a Pure DTX grip on it which I loved. As soon as I got back home, I ended up buying two used Calloway Rogue X hybrids, 3 and 5. So far I've only tested them out at the range, but I love them. They're much more forgiving than irons for me.
