Adding a little of the flow makes for some nice shots… when I focus too much on my arms when I'm playing golf, man is it tough to hit good shots. My legs just don't do anything.

When I add some transfer…

It was downwind and downhill. I’m always good for a longer drive on that hole.

Lots of roll.

Icias,

I hope facts are allowed here . If not, I won’t be around very long -

More that 40 % of the human brain is dedicated to it’s extremities-  it’s  dominant hands . It is the arms that are actually doing the swinging, but the hands control the entire action and the body will always obey their commands and will always position itself to accommodate the path those dominant hands desire to travel . Our dominant hands are the only attachment/ connection to the shaft and their movements are a major key to a successful golf swing . Not to hit or throw or release , mind you !

Facts are not only allowed but encouraged.

The facts you shared above do not help in the slightest, though.

And as my DM to you said, we are aware of who you are, too.

Had a good day today, even though it was just nine holes (in 2:15…):

32.jpg

https://www.gamegolf.com/player/iacas/round/3052435

I simply felt like my backswing — for ALL clubs, including driver — was to about A3. I tried to make sure I was fully hinged by then (wrists), and that my arms were out away from me, but otherwise, I did that and hit the ball.

P.S. I don't know if those Strokes Gained numbers are doubled for an 18-hole rate or what. I have to imagine so, as they add up to 8.3. I mean, so, yeah, duh.

Iacas,

Sir- the statement I posted on April 13 is ABSOLUTELY FACTUAL and is critical to achieving a successful golf swing . Genetics rule . They are a very critical part of the learning process and can NOT be ignored.

Cool. I don't care to take the time to look up whatever you said on April 13. I do know that your topic is here:

Just have to remind myself of a few things.

Also, really not liking how my shirts and things fit me. This shirt used to be kinda "tight" across my belly. I didn't wear it too often because it felt funny. Now it's all floppy and loose. I also had to move my belt buckle all the way to the right because I have so much of the belt sticking out the left side, and I'm almost out of the "track" on my Mission Belt.

This swing is the take away that I refer to as Furick-ing.  I don't know if it is so close to JimFurick take away but it is what I originally discovered and try to emulate a while back.  Clubhead is way out there, not pointing club towards target until you get to top  So when you get to the top, the clubhead has to whoop-de-do or figure eight to the plane of attack, yes ? It is longer on the no.1 club and more exaggerated maybe but this take away has put me on plane and produces consistent and clean contact for me.

Oh and the shirt looks just great man.

Let me quote a part of post #1:

On 2/14/2011 at 3:22 PM, iacas said:

As you can tell from the name of the video, I was trying to achieve a little more of a "Jim Furyk Feeling" on this swing - dorsiflexion of the left wrist on the takeaway (still getting the hands deep), no #3, then lots of #3 from about P3.75 to P4.25... then the follow through is just holding the wedge into a follow through, but frankly, I wasn't that worried about anything after P7.

Expand

What I don't like about this particular swing (right now) is how the right elbow worked, where the hands went, etc. This wasn't possible at any real speed.

But I found it funny how you mentioned Furyk given the first post I ever made in this topic!

Thanks for the shirt comment!

Sorry I missed your post #1 as I saw this recent post and the vid, not #1 from 10 years ago.  10 years ago, I had given the game up due to a back injury and was not really into golf sites. The copy you provided did not mirror your vid from a couple days ago though and was barely visible actually.
Reason I mentioned Furyck is that is how I described my 'feel' when I took it back.  I felt like I was drawing it back kinda like Furyck looked (and that's all it took).  I also realize feel aint real but vids don't lie.

I think you misunderstood.

I was pointing out that the "Jim Furyk feel" is something I've been working on from the outset. That's the exact way I described what I was doing back then.

A little filming today.

I had my first over-15-minutes practice session (with some recording of video!) on Monday. I played well Tuesday and into Wednesday, and the front nine Thursday before it started to get a bit loose. The swings felt like they did last year: effortless, easy, and yet the ball just rocketed off straight and high.

Of course, last year in February and into March and through April I practiced about an hour+ per day, sometimes two hours. Cuz, y’know, not much else to do.

This year, the backswing is better (still feels extreme), but the left wrist goes into palmar flexion from 3.5 to 4 and that puts the right wrist in a bad position from which it “torques out” throughout the transition.

Sometimes I hate golf.1

Just flushed ten balls in a row. Swing to 2, look to make sure left wrist is slightly cupped (easy). Swing to 4 feeling it is adding a little cupping (it stays about the same). Hit it. FLUSH.

Such a dumb sport. With like no margins of error. And one of like 50 things can go wrong in the smallest way at any given moment.

1 Not really.

Hey @iacas, with practicing the way you do, standing with your torso slightly tilted for a minute or more at a time rehearsing and re-rehearsing, do you ever experience lower back issues?

    • Day 87 (27 Jul 25) - Made it an easy session with the wedge this afternoon, worked on staying in the shot and not lifting out - split between low spinners and higher floaters.
    • Shot my new low 72 (par 70) today. Had 5 birdies, also a new best, which included a hole out from the bunker on par 3 6th, and another hole out pitch from 15ish yards on the long par 4, 15th.  Got a couple of other good breaks. Except for an OB drive on 14th (and ensuing double bogey), not much went wrong. All in all I might have used up a year's worth of luck in a single day.
    • Back in the saddle after vacation.  Day 1: played 18. Did not have it, but still battled to an 82. Felt closer to a 90, but that’s fine.
    • Yes, I have seen this from the older crowd that play the 4,700 yard tees and want to know why they get less strokes from there. Always trying to game the system 🤣
    • Day 300 - 2025-07-27 Good 44-ball segment. GSPro was acting goofy, so I just put it on the Quad. Then I hit a bunch of low spinners. Hit 14° down to 9.8° down, with the average closer to 12.3° or so. Focused mostly on the backswing. Right knee good, hands roll up and out a little before laying off (FAR).
