New Nike 20XI Ball

I got a sleeve of the 20XI-S today from the golf shop and took them out for a round today. I really like this ball,

the cover didnt tear up as bad as other balls (One Tour, ProV1, Penta).

Im thinking about giving the 2011 ProV1 a try as well to compare. The putting feel is a little different on the new Nike ball and the ProV1 really excels in this department

I'm a big fan of Nike golf balls to begin with.  I'm bored with all the prov1 hype all the time.  I will try them next week.  Cool thread!

yea I know I just said I was going to give the brand new proV1 a try; I bought a sleeve to try and putted with the 20XI and the new Prov1. Couldnt tell that much of a difference. I decided to play my round with the 20XI again and I dont think Im even going to try the ProV1 now, these balls are just great for my game.

played with the 2011 ProV1x today. Comparing it to the 20XI s (not x) the ProV1x has more spin around the greens. Both are a good ball but Im going to be playing the ProV1x because of this. Hit a 80 yard wedge shot and the ProV1x hit the green and backed up 4-5 feet, the 20XI doesnt do this as much, some may like that but it correlates to chips and short pitches (no green to work with) as well. Anyway, this kind of goes with golfdigests wedge spin data, the ProVx has more spin around the greens according to them,

The 2011 ProV1 and ProV1x line is one of the best ones they have released for awhile from what Ive seen

I bought a box of the 20XI-X's and played with one yesterday. Too early to really pass judgment but the first thing I noticed is the ball is real soft off the putter.

I bought a sleeve and just played a round with them.  I liked them off the putter and around the green, but I think my swing speed is just not fast enough to get good distance out of them.  They seemed about 15-20 yards shorter for me than the Bridgestone 330RX and the TaylorMade Tour Burner.  I'll give them another round or 2 in case I was just having a short day, since they putt nice, but I don't think it is going to work out.  We'll see.

Apparantley, the 20XI-X ball requires a high swing speed to really get the performance out of it (the B300 is the same which is why you see success with the B330RX).

I've been dying to try these out. I'm probably leaning towards the s version when I do try them. The whole swing speed to fully utilize the ball is really screwing with my head. My usual ball is the Bridgestone b330-rx. But I feel my swing speed is over 100 mph, so I sorta feel like I compress the ball too much. It would help to know what my swing speed is. Doesn't the 20xi usually suggest a swing speed over 90 mph?

The problem for me with the B330RX is that it seems unduly influenced by the wind (and I live in a windy area) and is way too hot off of the putter and scoring clubs.  I played another 9 holes today with the 20XI and it confirmed my earlier impressions.  I'm thinking that the TM Tour Burner us going to end up being my ball.  Although I have yet to try the TF Gamer, which has gotten good reports here.

Haven't really noticed this problem with the RX... it's been pretty windy out here lately and I played an entire round with one and didn't notice it being blown around more than any other ball that I played... really wasn't looking for this though; I'll keep an eye on it the next time I play and it's windy.

Back on topic... I do want to try out the 20XI balls... I guess I'll either pick up a sleeve or wait until they start popping up on GolfBallNut (probably a good few months for that).  From what I've heard from others though, it seems to be a pretty good ball.

The B330RX is hot off the putter?  I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by that.  Are you trying to say that you don't like the "feel" of the ball off of the putter?  I don't think I've ever thought a ball to be "hot" as in "comes off the putter fast" before.

Besides that, based on what you said eariler, I would certainly try out the Top Flight Gamer.  It's a solid ball.

I played the new 20XI-S yesterday for a few holes, too soon to tell but my immediate impression was that it feels buttery soft off my scotty when putting and so far after a few wedges it still looks brand new. (i SHRED prov's, b330's, taylormade penta/tp blacks...) I was very surprised at how well it held up durability wise. i'll be playing all 18 with them today and will report back with other opinions/observations. FWIW, i played the first 14 holes yesterday with the new ProV1 and seemed to be incredibly short distance wise but a LOT of spin from 150 yds (9i) and in. so far the ball of choice is the  B330-S but we'll see what the Nike's got to offer today.
