It's ridiculous. I can whip through a full set in 15 to 20 minutes. The most time consuming part is ripping the old tape off. Some old tape is stubborn and is a pain in the neck.

That's it.  It will take you about 20 min. to put on new grips at this point.  All you need is tape, solvent, and grips.  I don't even use a vise.  Just put your tape on the shaft.  Wet the tape with solvent.  Put a little solvent in the grip.  Pour the solvent out of the grip.  Slide the grip on.

Im going in there to raise hell today. If they arent done yet im going to get loud and let everyone else in there know to stay away.

Ill let you guys know how it goes.

Does temprature matter right now it is less than 40* here and I would most likely do this in my garage, I could use the basement but that would be only about 60* down there.

Swing by another golf shop or Dicks and get the grips you want, some grip tape, and solvent.  I have even seen precut tape.  I'd do the job in the garage simply because of the smell of the solvent.  Not bad, just strong.  Let them sit for about an hour and you will be good to go.  Enjoy the sense of pride that comes from doing the job yourself.

The big error you can make is scratching/cutting a graphite shaft with a knife trying to remove the old grip, but since the old grips are already off, you won't have that risk.

The next error is insufficient solvent or soak time on the grip tape, so the grip gets stuck while sliding it on. Just make sure the tape is wet and give it a few minutes to soak in. Also slosh some solvent inside the grip so the rubber can absorb some of it. The last ones I did slid on great.

That's nuts.  Last time I had a grip done, it was just one new club that I wanted to match the rest of my clubs.  I walked in with it, made the order, waited, and walked out with the finished club all in less than 15 minutes.  If you want to shop there again, I'd demand at least an explanation of both why it's taken 2 weeks and, more importantly, why they flat out lied to you over the phone more than once.  At this point, though, I'd be inclined to take my clubs and go elsewhere.  I wouldn't be able to trust their word that they were going to make it right any more.

I can remove and re-grip a 14 club set in 30-60 minutes TOPS! I would give them MORE hell than just a little bit! You're being laughed at and I'd be PISSED about it.

I have watched some of the guys at Golfsmith do re-grips. With the right equipment that these pro shops have(clamp and waste tray)you are looking at less than 20 minutes total. I would be livid and would demand my money and clubs back.

I figured out this weekend that the guy doing my clubs was just a complete mess. Very unorganized and very spaztic running around and such.

I went into the store on FRI and had a conversation with him via phone as he wasnt in. He told me to pick out any grip they have in stock and  he would put them on first thing Saturday morning so that I could play an afternoon round.

I went in on saturday at about 12:30 and of course he hadn't put the Lampkin wraps I had picked out on. He was busy helping a few people and when he saw me he practically shart himself for some reason. Put on my grips in about 15 mins (My draw dropped because I waited 3 weeks for him to do something that took him 15mins... terrible)... I was baffled and angry but I just wanted to get out of there I paid him for the grips I had originally picked out which were a bit cheaper than the ones I had put on. He also gave me a free voucher for my next set of grips, if I wanted to have them done there.

Of course I had to delay my tee time to let the grips set up but w/e. I have my clubs back and I got to play, I dont think Ill use the voucher maybe Ill sell it to someone else or something Im staying away from there like the plague, Im going to try and put a new grip on my driver.

Any suggestions?

Boy, that was a free voucher for him.  He should have comped THESE grips, not some future grips.  As if you'd go there, or suggest going there to anyone.

Yeah, at this point I'd just be done with that place and suggest that acquaintances not take their business there.  He's within his rights not to give you free grips or labor, but I wouldn't consider his response to be adequate amends for jerking you around.

Well, to be honest, if he did a quality job in the end, I might not totally give up on the business, but I'd consider that you're likely to have this kind of frustration the next time.  But if there's somewhere else that can do equal quality without the chain-yanking, I'd be done with 'em.

Wow, I would be livid. My dad and I both just regrip our clubs, mainly because we're cheap/don't like spending money on something we could do ourselves for free (or at little cost). It's kind of a pain at first but you get the hang of it.

sell the voucher to some other poor soul cause that thing is useless. I would never go back again. and he should of gave you free grips this time. not next time. you never should of paid for these grips.

you have been taken for a wild ride and paid for it. sorry to say that, but it is true.

Yeah but at some point you just cut your losses and get out of there. Seemed like this guy had more going wrong than just late grips for some golf clubs.

cut your losses and get out of there is an understatement. I wonder if he paid for the labor fees? if he did, man.....

From now on, just do them yourself.  I don't use the solvent method, I just blow them on.  It literally takes 10-15 seconds to do one club!  I have done both my Dad's and my brother's clubs, and I have been playing around with different grips on a few of my clubs to see if there are any I like better.  Best part is that I can blow one off, blow a new one on (in just a few seconds) and go straight to hitting it since I don't have to wait for anything to dry.  And I use blue painters tape too, it makes it really easy too to play with size as adding or subtracting wraps is quick and easy.

With just a $4 blow gun from Harbor Freight and any air compressor, you can be in the regripping business!

Scratching the club underneath the grip is no big deal. But what do you mean my soak time? When I put grips on, I use a spray bottle to get the inside wet, then plug each end and swish, then wet the grip and IMMEDIATELY get the grip on, if I let it sit for more than a minute or two, it wont slide on.
