Wanted to share this with the board. My day job is at Metro newspapers, which has daily editions in New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Long Island, so we partnered with TheSandTrap.com to run staff predictions in print. It ended up running in New York, Philadelphia and Long Island, which has a combined daily readership of more than 800,000 people (we actually have the fourth largest audited circulation of all US papers but since we're free, we don't get as much love as USA Today, etc).

Here are a few links to the pages themselves as they appeared in this morning's papers. I thought you guys would get a kick out of it.

Thanks for sharing, very cool to see that!

Besides, that can only help in my master plan to unseat and take the place of some of the analysts on Golf Channel and/or other networks

J/K, but very cool, exposure like that cant do anything but help the site grow.

That is weird seeing TST in there. The Metro is distributed to local commuters outside my NYC subway stop during the morning rush. Congrats.

Print media?   What's that?   Oooh, now I remember....it was that stuff on paper we used to read that got ink on our hands.     How quaint.     :-)

Seriously, good exposure though.     Although I have to disagree with columnist Justin who said he wouldn't shell out $500 to play any course but might make an exception for Augusta.    When your invite comes and you're told it will cost you a few grand to play there, I hope you stick by your guns and say no thanks....and then please immediately p.m. me and I'll be on the next flight to Georgia to take your place.

Ron asked to have some things reprinted from our two columns.

FWIW, I said I wouldn't spend more than about $250. I wouldn't.

In that case, please consider me your grateful substitute when you have to turn down your invite.    I'll pm you my cell number if the Augusta member who invites you feels time is of the essence and there is a threat he'd call someone else.     My clubs are always in the car and I can be at the airport within 45 minutes notice.    Oh, and I'll also gladly make a generous contribution to the Sand Trap operating fund as well.      :-)

Go back and re-read what I said... Actually, I'll save you the jump, here it is:

It's hard to say. Until last year, I said there's no way I'd ever pay $500 to play anywhere, but after visiting Pebble Beach for the U.S. Open, my stance on that changed. Augusta is almost a whole different level, but I know I'd pay at least the same as what I'd pay to play Pebble, likely even more.

Opinions/stances change after you see things in person, makes you appreciate it more. Having never seen Augusta in person, but knowing how much more Pebble blew my mind after seeing it in person, I cant imagine. Hopefully one day I will see it in person :-)

Yeah! We made it. We did it guys! We're big time now. To all the detractors, to all those who said we'd never make it, to anyone who ever blew us off or planted a see of doubt that kind of rocked our confidence a bit,  IN YOUR FACE !

Wait. The Metro? What's that? Oh..

    • Day 91 (1  Aug 25) - Pre-tournament practice round today…had some great up and downs for par saves.  Rain came in this evening so it will be a totally different playing course tomorrow.
    • Jesus, when he keeps saying scissoring moment, ugh that is a horrible sounding phrase. Just makes me cringe. It doesn't help my mind went to Mr. Garrison from South Park. 🤣 If you know you know.  I think for the most part, golf shaft companies have gotten this figured out. They ask questions like, what tempo do you swing at. The whole scissor terminology sounds like they want to stand out a bit.  Yea, golfers load the golf shaft differently, and different bend profiles can help out. I do think swing speed matters as well. You probably want a golf shaft with lower torque if you swing faster.
    • Played 9 holes, shot a 39.  Kind of got around. Everything between the trees, so in play. Short game was rusty. Got to get back on that. Greens were stupidly slow because they got a lot of rain yesterday and probably couldn't cut them down. Usually in the summer they are firm and pretty fast for how sloped they are. Got to work on face to path a bit.
    • We agree here. Top of the car has a forward force, bottom of the car experiences a backward force via the braking. Both about the COM (somewhere in between). Result is a rotational flip. Since the forward force is still higher the car probably still globally travels forward. Sure, pretty basic. You really think there are deliberate twist forces applied? Like forcing the club head forward and simultaneously forcing grip end in the opposite direction? Heck I don't think we even slow down the grip end deliberately let alone force it the other way. Sorry, if I am missing something here. The orientation change is simple incidental because there is different rate of global movement of grip vs. clubhead throughout the swing. I also happen to think the best swings have the least amount of differential movement between the two end in the impact zone.  In my defense, I never thought one could do justice in covering all aspects of a golf swing in a paragraphs or two to begin with. Especially not with grade school physics..😜 Okay.
    • Wow, @DeadMan that is such a helpful breakdown of what’s around. Really excited to check a bunch of these out. Thank you. Will definitely go to Walnut Creek. Will also try and get a commonground tee time. Haven’t played many Doak courses yet! If your schedule frees up, let me know!
