just to give some background, i am currently playing PING g10 irons. i hit in the high 80s and lowish 90s. i feel that i could be playing better if i could work with my shot. my hits are usually pure but i cant adapt them due to the almost SGI nature of them.  i have hit the mp63's and although they are aimed at single digit handicappers, i hit them perfectly every single time (6-iron hit 150 yards avg.)

ok so i have heard mixed reviews about the 68's i like their look and weighting but am wondering how similarly they hit to the mp63s or is the decrease of forgiveness worth the increase in playability

thanks

I currently the MP-68 and previously the MP-62, the only difference I notice is a little more feed back on a miss hit shot.  Look at setup is almost exactly the same, the head shape is ever so slightly different with the PW, 9 and 8 iron, at the top of the toe.

I find the playability almost the same also, just that a pure hit with the MP-68 sends a chill down my spine!  I have noticed no difference in the ball flight either.

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

I know you didn't mention them, but why not check out the 53s?  Plenty of workability and more forgiving than the others.  Great looking sticks too!  I would think they would be great for a mid handicapper such as yourself.

The 63s are awesome. I picked them up this spring and have been more than satisfied so far. I hit the 68s as well. I think you will see a little more forgiveness on the 63s on off center hits. They both feel and look great. Good Luck

Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated

ok well the 68s are looking sweet and a combo set would be cool with 7-PW in 68s (i REALLY want the 7 in mp68) and 4-6 in 63

I use a full set of MP68 . You have to be a really good ball striker to use them .

I have to say that they have almost no forgiveness.

ok im a really good striker i just am right now ,IMO, not playing to my full potential due to the fact that i cannot work the ball. so if theres any news of a combo set of that has those irons

Because Mizuno will allow you to order any number of clubs from a certain line, you can actually make your own combo set. Just order the 63s that you want along with which 68s that you want.

I love the MP 68's! They feel amazing when struck well! However I would suggest the MP 58's instead. Working the ball is a walk in the park, feel amazing and more forgiving than the 68's. Why not get an iron that you can work almost as well and that is a little more forgiving on bad swings? If the pros are doing it why shouldn't you? Forgiveness was my main deciding factor between the 68's and 58's. Makes more sense to me. Just my 2 cents

@ronbo thank you so much! i can even pick to drop my 6 iron and save 100 dollars because i never use it( (i am better with my 7) and i dont have to buy another 3 since i have a hybrid.. wow thanks sooo much now i can use that money to replace my old spalding wedge.

and @ soonerfan i am thinking of heeding your advice and instead of going with mp58s ill include more 63s in my bag. (i find it harder to hit the 58s for some odd reason...) and i looked over your club list and i totally agree, odd number balls (especially 3 seem to play the best.. dunno why they just do

i havent had a chance to hit the 63's yet...i thought about turning my set into a combo set with 7-PW in the 68's...i dont know if its a mental thing or what but i always seem to play better with #3 golf balls maybe cuz 3 is a good score on any hole..lol

sounds like were on the same page on almost everything, the combo set, golfballs, and good workable shortgame irons. except for the fact that longhorns are the best.

If you can only hit your 6 iron 150 yards then your swing speed is really no where near quick enough to be using the 63's much less the 68's unless you plan on buttering your toast with them

Sorry, how do you figure that?  What exactly does swing speed have to do with hitting blades effectively assuming you have the right shaft for your swing and you're a good ball striker?

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this or not, but I hit the 68s and literally got giddy.  That hasn't happened to me in a really long time.  It has to be the softest, purest feeling blade I've ever hit in my life.  I was hitting into a net, so I can't comment on ball flight, but I think the vertical COG is around the 5th groove, if that matters.  Lower launching and a little more workable and harder to launch with spin.  I own MP-67s.  Those are nice, but nowhere near as buttery as the 68s.  If I had to buy, I'd go with the 68s.

This makes no sense whatsoever.     You've made 2 posts so far in the forum and both were of no use whatsoever....why bother?
