Casio fc100 hosed - which option would you choose?

Casio wants $150 to fix a P&S; FC100 lens won't stay open problem. Should I: 1- Fix it, $150 w/limited 1 year warranty. 2- Take option to upgrade to reconditioned FH100 @ $180. 3- Buy new FH100 from Amazon @ $200.

I'd check with some independent stores, maybe they can fix it cheaper. If all options are gone, you could even try fixing it yourself. Is the camera useless the way it is now?

I bought it used, so no receipt, no warranty. Actually the reconditioned has a 1 year warranty, not the fix. The camera is unuseable. I bought it used for $120, it worked fine for a couple of weeks, then just died. Oh well.

Yeah, that was what I was leaning toward. I've bought lots of used electronics from Craigslist. Mac Mini, laptop, etc... This is the first time something broke on me. I think I'll stay away from used cameras next time.  Or anything that is more fragile than usual.

Fix it, then buy a new one, and sell the old one.
