Guys,
i have a set of '09 burners and i think my game has outgrown them. i'm looking to get a blended set of the new taylormade TP MB, MC and/or CB irons...is there anyone out there who's hit these bad boys and can share a little bit about em?

any opinions/recommendations for the clubs or how to break up the blended set (ie MC 3-6/MB 7-PW, etc)...please chime in!

Not specific to the TM offerings, but ask yourself this: "What's the longest iron in my bag that I wish I hit lower ?" That's pretty much your break point in a mixed set of cavities/blades.

Also, fairly obviously, if the answer is either (almost) none or (almost) all of them then you should probably just go fully one way or the other.

i'm looking to do the split from the 6 and 7 irons...7-PW a players iron and 3-6 a little more forgiving, i'm thinking i'm leaning towards 3-6 in the MC and 7-PW in the MB

Hi there

I play TM TP, 3-PW, with Gold Dynamic S300 shafts. Look from address is very nice, easy to aim with them. I don´t find them really difficult to hit. Feel is not as soft as some forged irons (Titleist 755, for example), byt if you hit it dead center feel will be fine. Solid build.

My set is the 2008 model.

Considering your handicap i doubt you need different iron models in your bag to make golf easier.

Good luck!

my pops has the same irons you do lugonza...i've hit them quite a few times and if he was getting rid of them they'd surely be in my bag lol...i've wanted to switch completely to blades/muscleback clubs for a long time now and my game is to the point where i want to 'sculpt' more shots. I had Nike Forged Blades but they weren't too good distance wise...at least in the longer irons.

hopefully someone out there in TST land has or has played with these irons and can give some feedback...would love to hear it...

I have hit the MBs and the MCs. I really loved the MBs, but they had to be pured. Any miss hits lost a lot of distance. I didn't hit the MCs as long, but miss hits felts so much better. Since I do miss the clubface on my irons quite a bit, I would have gone with the MCs. Both felt awesome. I ended up buying the Mizzuno MP 63s, which are basically identical to the MCs. Good Luck!

ive held the MB's in the store and they felt and looked pretty nice. The MC is slightly chunkier than the MB and thats my only complaint. Taylormade is a great company and I would buy their irons in an instant.

I tested out the CBs and found them a big heavier than some of the others. The feel wasn't as good as the Mizuno JPX 800 Pros I just ordered. Callaway's were also heavy throughout the line.. from my experience, so you might be more accustomed to any weight trends with TM.

I have a combo set 6/7 MC and 8-PW MB. Love these clubs.  Very easy to work them.  They are a lot more forgiving than I thought they would be.  My mishits were still going straight but lost maybe 10 yards or so.

I am still getting used to the distance of these irons because I switched to these from a set of the burner 2.0s.  If you have seen the lofts on those, you will understand how different they are.  That being said, these are very consistent distance wise.  I was consistently dropping the 6i about 155 give or take a few yards.  Very predictable distances.  Nothing like the burners.

I have the DG XP shafts in them which could explain some of the distance loss I was experiencing.  They are a very high launching shaft and it was fairly windy this weekend.  I dont mind a loss of distance as long as it is consistently the same distances.  i would definitely recommend giving these a try

Currently in the Grom: Driver: Ping G15 13.5;  Woods: Adams XTD 5W 18.5, TM R11 7w 22; Hybrids: Cleveland Mashie M4 and M5; Irons: Mizuno JPX800 w/Nippon NSPro950 S;  Wedges: CG16 48* CG15 52* CG15DSG 56*;  Putter: Rife 2bar hybrid mallet Ball: Callaway Hex Chrome

I just hit a Taylormade MC 6 iron at a golfmart and found that it's one of the sweetest and most consistent irons I have ever hit. Distance wise out of 10 shots the longest was 188 yards and the shortest was 182 yards and 6 were at 185 on the dot  - they also felt great and look cool...these are gonna find there way into my bag I have a feeling

In my bag:
Titleist 910D2 w/Diamana Kaali'Stiff
Titleist 910F w/ Diamana Kaali' Stiff
Titleist 910F Hybrid 19 degree w/ Diamana Kaali' Stiff

Titleist AP1 Irons - TT S300
Titleist Vokey SM 50, 54 & 58 - Titleist Scott Cameron Newport

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
