He may be an icon but if Natlie Gulbis took her Winn grips out on the course and tee'd it up with ole' John, he'd be in for a nice firm butt whoopin!

hi LarryK

But that 8 mill ain't helping him stay on tour. I have no doubt he can buy all the beer and Marlboros his little heart desires through various endorsements and exhibitions. But if he wants to play on the PGA Tour, he has to make money.....on Tour.

Could be that some of that 8 million will not be around next year if he is not on Tour to promote his sponsers products. What was left of the cash is probably already in the hands of Vegas casinos . . .

JD could be heading for humbling times . . . thank gosh for the very nice PGA Tour retirement/pension plan. He'll do very well. Been out there a long time.

I'm always pulling for Daly!! How can you not. Tiger is my second favorite golfer but half the reason I love JD is because he is the anti-Tiger. He drinks, smokes, and just absolutely rips the ball!! How can anyone not cheer for John Daly??

Daly has blown sky high at Wachovia -- today he's +7 after 13 holes and overall he's +9 with only five holes to go to get to the 36 hole mark. The "projected cut line" is +1. So, it's a virtual certainty Daly will miss yet another cut.

He is +17 - 87 today.

That is a sorry, pathetic chicken-s*** performance by someone who has made a habit of turning in sorry, pathetic chicken-s*** performances.

He ought to be ashamed to show up to play in another PGA Tour event.

Haha... I shot an 87 yesterday and wasn't happy with it. Granted, different course, different conditions but wow, I just took a look at Daly's scorecard.

I miss the days when BIG John would walk off the course during the round.
At least he didn't post an 87!
Put down the smokes and the guitar and play some golf!

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
