  1. 1. What is your opinion of the metal button on top of your golf hat?

    • I love the way it looks and feels
      1
    • I like the way it attracts heat
      1
    • Now that I think about it, the metal button is kinda useless
      2
    • Never thought about it and don’t care
      20
    • None of the above

It may be marketing BS but I bought one of these hats a week ago and
it is by far the best hat I own. Everything the guy promises about
the hats is spot on. Comfortable and wicks away sweat better than any
hat I have tried. We do sweat in California. As a bald guy I
appreciate the design of the hat.

i said none of the above for the same reason the op mentioned in his first post as it was used to help hold the hat seams together on earlier hats, and now, i do believe they still have some purpose as much as he'd suggest that it does nothing. as for the heating element of it...most of them are covered in fabric, no? all hats, like any other cranial accessory are personal preference. some wear runners hats, some baseball, some golf, some 'fashion' and some wear visors. might just be me but, this is a pretty trivial trivia thread...

I'm probably wrong and I'm sure they're great hats for some people (Davis Love III, Tom Lehman, James Taylor during celebrity fun runs) but not for me. Besides, Canadians never play golf in such hot weather that moisture wicking becomes an issue. If we did, we'd just wear a visor, since we all have hair.

Yup! Always looking for a way to infuse hockey into a topic of discussion.

I've always been amazed that baseball caps became the norm on tour and in general play.  Until the 70s, a lot of golfers didn't wear hats at all (Palmer, Nicklaus, Lema...), or maybe just a visor on a really sunny day.  Snead and Byron Nelson wore straw hats, and quite a few wore "golf hats", the flat jobs like Hogan and Gardner Dickinson wore.  There was also the "towel hat" fad during 60s early 70s.  A dermatologist wrote an article in one of the golf magazines many years ago, about how stupid it is to wear a baseball cap, since it gives you no real protection against the sun.  Straw hats with a brim are way cooler on your head on a hot sunny day than a baseball cap, because they shade your neck and cheeks.

Chill on the accusations, dude.

Dave and I are wearing them and I'm writing a review. So far, except for the slightly odd look (it's different, that's for sure, and people are inclined to dislike "different"), it seems to perform as advertised.

This year I have started wearing a bucket hat. It really works well for sun protection.

For a few years I wore a pith helmet!  Light, cool and offered protection against wayward shots from other fairways!  Been thinking about going back to one.  They even stay on your head in the wind!  (And I have fond memories of how I was playing those years -- bagged the club championship wearing one!)

Hell yeah!  Put some ventilation holes in that and you're good to go!

Actually, the one I wore was like this one:

Sean, what has you so worked up about this? We’re talking about golf hats not running hats.  You know the things that cost all of about $20 and golfers go through three or four a year.  I’m just a regular guy who happens to play golf and is bald.  I came-up with a hat design that performed for me and I thought other bald guys would like it too.  They did, so I invested in some inventory.  Now I’m trying to let other bald guys who play golf know about the hat and maybe make a few bucks along the way.  Simple as that.

I offered my comment on the hat - if it works people, that's great, but it's just not for me. Nothing more needed to be said. Then I was hit with marketing responses and PMs offering a free hat. To be honest, that really didn't sit well with me. I should never have responded to the poll.

Yeah, I can understand how bad it sucks when someone offers you free stuff to see if you might change your mind without ever having tried (or seen) the product. How lousy! If all that needed to be said has been said, good, that part is done now. :-) Moving on...

I still disagree with the idea that the button attracts heat and is unnecessary, but at the same time, I've worn the hat for nine holes and found it really comfortable thus far, and look forward to trying it out more. My wife likes it too. And, so far as I know, she's still got hair on her head. She also never minded the button on the top of traditional caps. ;-)

I'm not sure why it pushed my buttons. I'm not saying it was rational in any way. In fact I probably have friends who'd love one. C'est la vie.

Moving on indeed.

    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • Hence your Avatar!😜 I drink a lot of water during the day if I’m playing or exercising. I get cramps otherwise.
    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
    • This isn't some kind of natural fact. It's a lot more complicated than this implies.
