I'm on that bandwagon: the

"Component" not "clone". 1st composite top square on the market. Integra has a patent on this head. Performs as well as ANY "OEM" out there. Threw a great shaft in it and away I went!!!

I play a TaylorMade R7 425cc 9.5 degree with an x-stiff shaft. I've tried the Sumo, Cobra, and the Rapture, but the TaylorMade is my fav. The Superquad looks really cool, but I haven't tried it yet.

I suppose my signature will give the answer - Callaway. I generally don't think Callaway is any better than a dozen other companies out there; I just got comfortable with a Great Big Bertha ten years ago, so Callaway is usually the first I try when I'm looking for a new one (the FT-3 is my fourth since the GBB). I find them to be solid, with reasonably nice "feel" (if that really means a lot in a driver), durable, forgiving, and good-enough looking. I do really like the all-black, no-chevron, and nearly compact look of the FT-3 Tour, and the sound is growing on me.

All that said, I like Titleist's 983/905 stuff a lot. I'd buy the r7 Superquad if I could afford it. And I'm really curious about the Mizuno MP-600. (Waiting for a review Sand Trap!) I guess I'm fairly loyal, but I'm not committed to Callaway.

I play the new Cleveland HiBore XL! I liked the Taylormade Superquad, but ended up with the Hibore.

Laws of golf :
LAW 3: Brand new golf balls are water-magnetic. Though this cannot be proven in the lab, it is a known fact that the more expensive the golf ball, the greater its attraction to water.

LAW 8: Topping a 3-iron is the most painful torture known to man.

Just purchased myself a Nike Sasquatch Sumo (non-square) at the weekend after trying so many drivers. Diamana stiff-shaft, 9.5° - this driver does everything that I want: distance, direction, trajectory.

I played 18-holes today and used the driver on 8, hitting 7 fairways - anywhere from 240-270 yards.

Fast becoming a Nike-convert.

I've been playing Titleist Drivers the last 2 years starting with the 905T, then the 905R. I just recently picked up the Mizzy MP-600, and I couldn't be more impressed. I only spent one day at the range with it and 9 holes, but so far, I really like it. My weakness with the drivers is always consistency, so I reserve the right to change my mind after a crappy round

I am not seeing many mention the Callaway X460. Either good or bad. Is there any thoughts on the X460...which I am considering to purchase (after the reduced pricing).

I had it and sold it to a friend. I suck at golf but he is decent, plays off 12. He likes it but has the tendency to lose it left sometimes cause of the closed face. He hits a natural draw so it doesnt help. If he sets it square hes hit a few over 300 yrds with it(with roll). Its kinda loud when its hit hard and well.

    • I mean there has to be some thought. For eg., something like 'soft knees and wrists' at set up and maybe a dynamic 'left arm to chin' as a trigger to start DS. I have these one or two anchor thoughts and have served me well. In fact, my wildest swings are the one where I have no thoughts or if I forget to walk thru my anchor thoughts. In contrast my best rounds are where I am consistent with the anchor thoughts.    OTOH, if I am running my entire half hour lesson (hypothetical) with some pro that I had last Saturday or whatever before every swing then I'm probably in trouble before I even get over the ball.
    • Two bits. Bit 1 The NCAA's appeal of Brendan Sorsby being granted a temporary injunction will not be heard until February, so there will be nothing to prevent Sorsby from playing the full season and potential CFP.  Bit 2 The Big Ten Conference will hold a meeting and is expected to ban all of its athletic programs from playing Texas Tech in the regular season. Georgia has done the same. The SEC will meet to consider a similar ban. Fellow Big 12 members TCU and Kansas State are spearheading a similar ban, but the conference charter might not allow it. Meanwhile, Big 12 athletic directors are meeting this week to explore what options the conference might have.
    • No, but I'm also in disagreement that golfers have no thoughts over the golf ball, and/or don't ever think I've met someone I truly believe is thinking nothing but "target" or something on most shots.
    • StuM,  I have, in the past, added a left handed club. (Ususally a 7 iron) However, I usually take a stroke penalty and move the ball to where I want it.  I play for fun and in a pinch can use theback side if my club if I don't want the penalty stroke.    RetiredOldMan,  Terry
