I have been playing a Ti460 for a while and it has quickly become my favorite in the bag.

Great sound, good feedback, a bit of workability and a TON of forgiveness all in a traditional shape that looks great at adress.

I am using an Adams Ovation 2 with 10.5 loft. It is the first driver that I have owned that has a club head significantly larger than a walnut. It seems to be working quite well for me at the moment. Hitting more fairways and added a solid 25 yards to my distance of the tee.

I haven't been playing golf to long, and have had two drivers. (Both given to me by my dad, he gets a new one every two years, and I get the old one). The first was a Cobra SS 350, with 10.5 degrees of loft. I enjoyed this, but the loft was a bit to high, and not to say it was the club, but i tended to push the ball alot. I now am using an r7 quad, and I must say I enjoy it alot more. I think the club has more forgivness, and I tend to hit it straighter.

taylormade R580 I seem to hit the thing a mile long, more than any other driver, but I still have the slice. sometimes its straight sometimes not.

I use a $17.50 driver I got from Academy Sports and Outdoors. I can hit 300+ yards with it, so I see no need for a more expensive driver.

A 30 handicapper who uses a driver that cost less than $20 and hits 300+ yard drives. Color me skeptical.

I'm not kidding you. I can't do it on the course to save my life, but I can do it all day long on the range. Heck, I can slice a ball 275+ easily. I'm 6'2" 299lbs. I put a lot on the ball. So color me BAD!

I was using an Adams 343cc but the longest drive I hit with it was like 270 yards. In may I was in Vegas and I went to the Callaway Center and I tried several Drivers and then the guy that was helping me gave me the FT-5 Tour 9.5° Draw (Fujikura E-360 Shaft) and since that first hit I was in love with that driver.

It is only 0.5° closed (Draw) you doesn't feel it that much but I love this Driver.

Regards.

Just because someone has a high handicap doesn't preclude them from being able to hit long drives. Driving is a novelty of golf. Anyone can go to a range and work on hitting a driver and hitting it well. As we all know, playing good golf and hitting a driver well are not one-in-the-same.

Ain't that the truth. I'm a 30+ handicapper and I wish I could hit the driver 300+. What I do have going for me is that my Orlimar Ti440 puts nearly every ball in the fairway at 220-250 yards.

I've been out of golf for some time, since 1994. Got back in a month ago and have played five 9 hole rounds. Back then, the metal woods seems to be just coming into style and there was nothing close to titanium. Back then I it one in five drives straight. My boss, who golfs with me, says that I forgot all my bad habits! :) But the key IMHO is iron play. There you get uneven lies, you tend to have to hit out of the rough, etc. I'm slowly making progress. The first two weeks (after my refresher lesson) I worked on the full shoulder turn thru impact and teeing the drive up to the left of my left toe. That's what got my drives nice and straight. (It's almost scary how far forward the ball looks!) Then last week I started working on keeping down through the approach shot. Now I keep my weight a little more on the inside of my right foot until I've started the downswing. That allows my weight to transfer better. My balance is a lot better and my irons are now producing a slight fade. My objective? Break 90 before I get to 90! :)

I said I was skeptical, not that I was calling complete B.S. There's a difference... C'mon now

    • Obviously everyone takes things very literally here  my apologies. Two club lengths and back on the angle perpendicular to the green and where the ball was assumed to have crossed when it went OOB or was lost.  To a hacker like me anything on the short stuff is “middle of the fairway”.     It also seemed that it would favour a big hitter who has gone OOB as they don’t have the risk of hitting a drive into OOB twice in a row if they are allowed to take that rule. But the rule is the rule. I’ll approach the club and see what their take on it is. Strange that when this guy brought this rule up the others had not heard of it. It makes a lot of sense to me.
    • The decision to use the MLR is the player's alone. He has the choice regardless of what others may think.  If he finds the original - all ok. If he doesn't, he follows the procedure with a 2 stroke penalty. But he doesn't "play from the middle of the fairway".
