I have a few clubs in reserve in the instance that I have trouble with a certain club in my bag.  I was using a Nickent 4DX SW that I had been hitting well on occasion but inconsistently on others.  On a whim decided to take a Lynx LXW 56 degree (one degree more loft) that I had purchased at Golfsmith but hadn't hit it well at all.  As I'm still trying to get my swing back my consistency is a little suspect, but the first seven full wedges that I hit with the Lynx were solid and completely unexpected.  Next time that I'm on the course I'll be taking the Lynx and leaving the Nickent at home.  How often do you replace individual clubs or do you stick with what you have in the bag regardless of how they perform?

I have a few drivers (3 to be precise) and half dozen putters in the Garage.  I do swap these upon occasion depending upon the course I'm playing that day or how I have been playing lately.

I have 3 putters that I rotate through (I really like them all and don't like to stay away from them for long).  I'm really getting into clubbuilding so I think I'll probably start changing out clubs fairly often to test new builds.

i have 2 putters and 2 drivers that i swap alot. .. I have a mickelson'esque blade white hot 8 putter which i love the feel of but am inconsistent with and a black series no 2 (both odyssey) that i am really consistent and solid with . . basically i use the black series for a few rounds, feel like im putting like a god then swap to my white hot which brings me back down to earth with a bump. The problem is i prefer everything about the blade even though it isnt the best performer

I have 2 putters that I change up from time to time - a Ping Anser and a TM Rossa Monte Carlo half mallet. When I get in a putting funk, I switch over. Helps for a while (placebo effect?), but the Ping is my stock putter & stays in the bag longer.

In my Sun Mountain 14 Way Stand Bag:

I have two putters that are very different from each other when one starts to acted up I switch it out.  A change of scenery does my eyes some good once in a while.

A few weeks ago we had our invitational and during the practice round I didn't putt all that well, so the first round of the tournament I brought out the other and putted great, two weeks later another invitational at a different club and the same thing happened again.  I switched back funny how our minds work when it comes to comes to golf... well at least my mind.

I have a 4 iron and 4 hybrid that get swapped out depending on my mood. Also I have a high bounce sand wedge that I bring to courses with fluffy sand - the green side bunkers at my home course are generally rock hard so I use a low bounce 58 degree. I have numerous 3 woods but my original is the one I hit the best so I havent swapped that out in ages.

I have a couple Hockey Stick Putters (a Wisconsin Badgers one and a Chicago Blackhawks ones) and an old Ping G2 sand wedge that I use for practice so that I dont wear out my gamers but other than that I dont keep a lot of clubs lying around.

If I dont like a club, I get rid of it.

I recently put an old Bridgestone mallet in the bag that I have had for years and seldom used and as others said, it is helping me out of a putting funk. I have 4 other putters, all of which I like, but the Bridgestone will be in the bag for a while.

In addtion to the clubs in my sig, I am also carrying a Callaway 23* 4H and an old PING ZING 5 iron I am experimenting with. If I am riding they will all stay in the bag (ten clubs) but when I am walking I will drop one of the 5 irons and swap out the 3H with the 4H depending on what course I am playing.

I have a new shaft like the one in my driver sitting at the clubmaker's shop that I am probably going to put in an old Firesole head, but my next project is probably going to be a wedge.

    • Day 37, June 10.  Today was primarily WFH, so I had several practice sessions (indoors, off a mat, into the net).  At least one each of U, 9, and 6-iron full swings with the usual priority.   I also tried a few times a putting type stroke with my 4H, as something I should probably learn how to hit (and what it does), but the mechanical shot at home off a mat doesn't tell me much of what it's doing.  That's something I should probably try on a real green, not during a round until I've tried it.
    • Day 10 (10 Jun 26) - Played in the midweek shootout at my home course - on aerated and sanded greens - day of trying to figure tempo to get the best roll on the greens.  Approach game was decently solid as was shots off the tee.
    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
