I'm going to make my tournament debut with the Kittyhawk club championship. I have never played real match play, so I'll give it a pass this year.

You can find the tournament details here. You sign up for a flight (honor system) depending on your handicap. You play a qualifying round on July 18th. If you cannot make the 18th, you can play up to 14 days before the 18th but need someone to play with to attest your score. From that point you are seeded (if your score doesn't jive with your flight you MAY be moved to a different flight) and provided you opponents phone number. You then have 10 days to complete you match play. This goes on for the duration of the tourney. If all scores are in before the 10 days they may start play ahead of schedule.

It's a bit further south than I typically go, 1 hr 45 min + depending on the construction slow downs. I would definitely want to play the course at least once before jumping into a qualifier, not sure how many possible rounds there would be of match play. I'll give it some thought.

Let me know if you want to meet up and play a match play match to get a feel for it.

Make that July 18th... not 8th.

I'd be able to do July 18th.  Been having a lot of swing troubles lately so hopefully I can get that worked out before then.

Yeah. That sounds good.

After a bit of a lost weekend (from a golf perspective anyway) this past one, I'm looking at both a Saturday and Sunday round this weekend.

If things go right and I get my clubs tomorrow I'm hoping to get some extra rounds in too. I'm not sure if I'm going to stay local and take advantage of the unlimited golf or try to get down there one day, but I really want to get as many rounds in with them as possible.

Based on how things are shaping up so far, I'm figuring on playing down south on Saturday. I need to be in B'creek that evening, so K-hawk or maybe even Community around mid day.

Sunday will probably be further north. Miami Shores is a bit default, but maybe Homestead.

I know Sunday is shot for me as is Saturday afternoon. I just got my motorcycle temps and I'm taking the rider course from 2 to 8 both days. I'm playing at church Sunday morning. Not sure what the weather looks like Saturday morning.

Early Saturday looks like the only time of the weekend that might be wet according to the WHIO weather guessers.

Looks like it will be a golf free weekend for me.

I'll probably end up playing at least 9 holes on Sunday. Parents are visiting this weekend so I am going to be preoccupied.

Of course this doesn't help anyways.

This just goes to my typical luck, my clubs are coming in today and the rain that's held off all week finally decided to start. Forecast says the rain is supposed to taper off and be low % for early evening when league starts, so as long as it doesn't get too soggy we may still play. However, tomorrow and Sunday are looking good for me up here, only 20% chance those days. As long as it doesn't rain so much today and Saturday that the courses flood again I'll at least get some golf in.

First round with the new clubs, shot an 87. Best round I've ever had. I know it's not down to the clubs, it's got to do with the swing work I've been doing. It's just nice that it coincided with my new clubs. Could have been a lot better, had an 8 on a par 5 and finished up in the rain so I slipped a few times during the swing but I can't complain at all.

Sure you can. We all know that new clubs are suppose to make you scratch golfers.

Does that mean I can blame my recent form on my clubs getting too old? They might have hit the expiration date a couple of weeks ago.

    • Ehh, it was kinda bad yesterday. Especially from the European side.  Min Woo Lee, Adam Scott, Sungjae, and Bezuidenhout combined for 4 birdies yesterday... Theegala wasn't good from the US side either.
    • Yah, a little over the top barking behind SS's back and walking away before he putted out (that is straight up poor form IMO), etc. Seems to be trying to punch above his weight class. But then on the same note it's hard to stay awake for a couple of hours of telecast outside of this no? The golf is not bad but there's no soul and that's not the player's fault.  I read something about him 'blaming the Canadian crowd' for their Day 1 plight but that also seems to be a bit of a writer's distortion of what he said as to me it seems he is simply asking the crowds to get a bit more involved. That's fair. Ya' know, the positive, loud energy these type of events need and feed off of. My two cents.
    • Until the International team does something… I don't know about "waste of time" and the surrounding area benefits economically, the players might enjoy it… etc. But it's not super interesting.
    • I’ll try to phrase this very carefully. Is there a case to be made that the Presidents Cup is a waste of everyone’s time?
