How was Oasis? My wife has worked summers at TPC Riversbend since college (teacher by school year). She has a co worker who also picked up a PT job at Oasis. I get out to riversbend a few times a year and have been extended an invite to Oasis. Is it worth the hour drive?

It was pretty waterlogged, but a nice course. I played it years ago. The greens were surprisingly slow.

After reading the first 6 hole descriptions I saw a lot of OB, trees, water... Have you played the course, sounds like it may be a provisional heavy layout for me.

It is a pretty short course so you can avoid a lot of the "hazards" because you don't have to pound a driver on every hole to get in scoring position. It is a pretty open course that sprawls out instead of being the box style course that has holes playing right next to each other. I don't want it to sound like a sales pitch for the course but it was one of my two home courses throughout high school. It went thru a bad spell about 5 years ago but with new management it is on the right track. I played out there earlier in the year (I am now over an hour away but went back and played it while visiting my parents) and it was coming back into shape and played very nice.

It's over an hour away from me too, of course all the Dayton area courses are so that's not a huge deal breaker. But I wouldn't go play on my own, would rather play with others, preferably people that know the course.

I played Sugar Isle a couple of weeks ago. Condition-wise it was pretty decent. Previous times out the greens have been dreadfully slow, but were a lot better this time. If there has been a bunch of rain, the front nine (which used to be the back nine) can get really swampy.

It's not a hard course. I think @Jeremie Boop I've been playing even worse than usual lately and I managed a 96. JB has a decent crack at the 80s.

I finally found the course rating. 68.6 104 from the white tees? Pretty similar to my league course rating. If that's any indication on how I'd do there it's not a good sign. I can't play well at my league course for anything.

Sitting here at Oakland Hills waiting for the rain to stop. Sigh.

I was thinking about golfing today, but we keep having showers pass through also. I may just go to the range and try to sort out why I'm hitting big push fades with my driver.

We had about a 10 minute shower at the turn in West Chester. Played my first round match play at green crest. Shot 80 (really well for me) and won 5&4

Nice, happy to hear you played well and won.

I don't think I'll even be able to go to the range, there's a bit more rain coming down now than there has been the rest of the day so it'll probably be closed. I'm so completely sick and tired of rain right now. When I think of how much I've improved this year with the limited amount of time we've had due to the all this precipitation it really makes me wonder where I could have been if we even had 1/3 less days lost to the weather.

The rain cleared out and we were able to finish. I ended up shooting 45-49. I will take that given the pins were in the toughest spots. They were ridiculous tough.

Popped that place up on the interwebs. A bit of a different world from good ole Wagner Ford Rd. Are you going to come back?

Yes. I'm back unfortunately. It is an awesome course and facility for sure. One of the guys in my group asked how much the membership was there. My answer was, "If you have to ask, then you can't afford it." Here is my round on game golf . I started on 17. The 3 putt on #9 was gut wrenching, but those greens... Aimpoint really helped a lot. Our caddie didn't have a clue. I would like to have my drives back on 18, 2, and 14. The rest were pretty decent.

It's nice to get a chance to play on a course that's ranked nationally, that's why I played where I did in NJ. However, it appears Oakland hills is much nicer than the courses I was able to play.
