Anyone film their putting stroke using high fps cameras?

Is it an effective way to self diagnose? What do you look for if you do?

I have very seriously thought about this. Like you I have no idea what I am looking for though. The big one would be if the head is moving. The second in my opinion would be keeping the eye line the same throughout the stroke. But those are only guesses.

Those are important, or can be, sure.

Also of importance would be how the putter head is moving through impact: up, down, or level. The shaft lean, if any and in which direction, would help to tell you delivered loft. You could measure the roll of the ball too - how much skid it has - though the previous two things should tell you that. If you filmed face-on and put a dot on the hosel at every frame you could measure your acceleration/deceleration as well - the farther the dots are apart the better the stroke. You'd want something to look fairly even on both sides with the widest spacing right at or even slightly before the golf ball.

I honestly think it would make more sense to just try and find a fitter or pro with a SAM PuttLab (or similar) machine which will give you solid quantifiable data on your putting stroke.

I agree, but.... I went got this big ol' report and I am not sure what to do with the data. Some place to discuss the results would be helpful, sure there was a "pro" there but he didn't seem to know much. I will say though that it was a useful experience because I learned a great deal about aim bias and how it affected my stroke. If a person goes I would suggest bringing a few putters you like and seeing how you aim with them and then how it affects your stroke. I found that using one of those white mallet putters which is suppose to help with aim, heck, I couldn't aim that thing to save my life. It caused me to make a stroke with a ton of compensations to launch the ball to what I thought was straight. Once I got it aimed properly I missed left.
