Not the magazine (although it is in trouble - with the internet information age, it's weaksauce) but news about hockey and hockey players.

1.) another death (suicide?) this time it was Wade Belak

2.) Sid the kid might be out for a long long time - love him or loathe him (check) he's great to watch and the former Patrick Division and the league seem somehow empty without him.

3.) house cleaning in Philly - WTH?

4.) saved the worst for last - the crash in Russia taking out an entire KHL team - truly horrific - with the state of charter planes in Russia, can another crash be far behind?

What a disaster and my condolences go out to the family, friends and fans but with so much travel by professional sports teams throughout the world, I am very surprised that this hasn't happened in the past.

And never forget about Payne Stewart!!

They didn't rule out September 17 or October 3. They said he's at 89-90% and he's simply not going to play until he's 100%, which is what they feel you need to do with concussions.

Oh darn. Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal are the Pens' top two centers for a month or so.

You hope.  Without Sid the Pens are first round playoff losers at best.  Malkin and Staal arent good enough to carry the Pens against the other top teams in the east.

Riiiiight. It's okay. Recent evidence suggests otherwise in the time Sid's been out or slumping. But if you have to tell yourself that to feel good about yourself, go ahead.

With Crosby in the lineup the Penguins are more interesting to watch, which is all I was saying. If he's coming back sooner than later, great, but with his style of play and his height (it is a factor) he's vulnerable. I only cheer for him every 4 years though, so whatever.

Absolute tragic summer for hockey players. The plane crash is unreal, so terrible for the families, friends and fans. While Crosby's concussion is a complete drag for the sport, these tragedies put things into perspective.

Didn't George Costanza predict that in Seinfeld in the Keith Hernandez episode? Just with Major League Baseball, of course.

Dude, what are you smoking? Malkin is an awesome hockey player. Easily one of the top centers in the league. Actually, I would put him as the second best center in the East behind Crosby. Staal is no slouch either. Great defensively and starting to find his way on offense.

Ummm....ok.  How did the Pens do 2 years ago when Sid was in a slump?  I seem to remember a mediocre Habs team ending their season.

One of the top centers in the league? LOL  Malkin isnt even in the top 5 and you could even argue he isnt in the top 10.  Ahhhh, you gotta love Pens fans.  So delusional.

Weak response to two years ago. Team defense (or lack thereof) and a shitty power play lost that series.

And shades is in Michigan. I wouldn't be so sure he's a Pens fan. Pretty sure he's not.

Malkin won the Conn Smythe and has an Art Ross too. And a Calder Memorial Trophy, two runners up for the Hart, two team MVPs... He's done pretty well for a second line center.

I am a Redwings fan for the record.

You are the delusional one. It is obvious that you don't know WTF you are talking about. Malkin not in the top 10 of centers? Do you even watch hockey? Please enlighten us with your list of 10 centers better than Malkin.

A lot of Red Wings fans appreciate Malkin, Crosby and Staal. We don't cheer for them, but you gotta give them their dues.

Has happened in the past. A plane carrying the Manchester United team crashed in 1958 killing 23 people.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
