Tiger Woods and Joe LaCava! Ooohhhh

LaCava saw an opportunity that worked for him and inquired with Tiger and his agent about it.  Tiger believes LaCava would be a good fit and offered him the job.  Neither party should be bashed for what happens every day in corporate America.  As a business owner I maintain that if you don't take care of your customers and employees someone else will.  At the end of the day golf is a business.

If anyone should be criticized here it is Butch Harmon.  For one, his comment about Tiger ("I'm not surprised....") seems to have been based on an inaccurate or incomplete knowledge of the facts. Second, Harmon was the one who recommended LaCava to Dustin and in hindsight it's clear that the combo wasn't ideal for a couple of reasons.

TW bashing seems convenient and unfair to me.  I'm sure LaCava wasn't the only caddie "currently employed" who sent Tiger their resume.  In my eyes, caddying for Tiger Woods would be a "dream" and a feather in your cap one day to say that you caddied for "one of the greatest players ever."  It's not Tiger's fault that inquires came in by the dozens.

From Tiger's position, he has every right to review and choose when the inquires are coming in and in LaCava's case, it came to Tiger (not the other way around).

So this being the case, it's up to LaCava to quit his current job for one that's better (in his eyes) and better suited for him.  I'm sure he told Tiger he would move away from Dustin as soon as his playoff run was over; which, he did immediately which personally is the right thing to do.....immediately that is.  Any indication before that would be wrong as it could've distracted and hurt Dustin's game throughout the playoffs.  So what options are there?

From Dustin point of view, he's young and going ot make a lot of money in his future.  I'm sure he'll have resume's coming his way and you better believe, some of those resumes will be from caddies currently employed.  Does, that also make Dustin an ass?  Not in my eyes.

Too much thought is put into all of this.  It's a simple job change...

Indeed. Players change caddies and vice-versa all the time. I know I'm stating the obvious, but the only reason this is on anyone's radar is because it involves TW.

Woods needed someone experienced who would not be starstruck and has been around the block a time or 10. LaCava needed someone who plays a limited schedule and makes the most of his practice time.

This seems like a pretty decent match to me.

Joe LaCava looks more like a Nike Guy than an Adidas Guy for one thing. But seriously Tiger Woods handled this 100% correctly and all he did was say to the Caddies Here is by Bag, Who Wants It? Woods took a look at the resumes did his due diligence to follow up on each guy and quite obviously it was Freddie Couples who Sold Tiger Woods on Joe LaCava. Now comes the delicate part. Tiger knows before Dustin Johnson Knows that Dustin's Caddy Joe LaCava wants to Bail on Dustin for Tiger's Bag... That's no different than any of you who have interviewed with another company and the company show interest in you by saying yeah you can come work for us, but you haven't told your company yet . And he told Joe LaCava you would have to tell you boss of "YOUR DECISION" before I hire you. Case Closed. Other than Blabber Mouth Butch Harmon Whining about it On TV this would not have come out until Monday. Dustin called Butch his Tournament was Over which is when LaCava informed him of his Decision and Crybaby Butch Blabbed it on the Air Sunday Night. Not Tiger Woods. This entire Soap Opera is a Joke!

Tiger has to change his mind and attitude, don't think changing caddie would do that much. Of course a caddie is very important but his real problems are elsewhere imho...

I just want to know what, for you, he could do for you to think he's "changed his mind and attitude?" To me, getting rid of everyone pre-2009 is enough. All that's left to do is take it to the course.

To me getting rid of everyone from his "winning past" was one of his biggest mistakes, then again I don't know Eldrick Tont personally so I don't have suggestions for him, but changing caddie or coach is pretty unuseful to me (imho), what do you think?

Pre-2009 is not only career victories, it's also personal failure. That's why I think getting rid of a lot of people who were semi-close to him was a good idea.

There's a special place reserved for John daly and tiger isn't there yet. I'd say you're reaching a bit to compare the two at this point. Even if Tiger never wins again I might still hold the opinion that you're reaching on that comparison. On topic however, I see nothing wrong with the way tiger hired Joe LaCava. much ado about nothing IMO.

Good for you if you think this was a good idea, I, on the other side, think it was a really stupid move, we'll see in a couple of years what will be the outcome! ;)

I won't define caddy and coach semi-close people, I think they maybe the closest people he had together with his manager (imho)
