As you may know, Augusta National shuts down shortly after The Masters and doesn't re-open until right about now, I believe.

Check out this photo. I made it from composite photos from Google Maps. Eek! Would you have guessed Augusta National could ever look this burnt out in the summer?

No worries. If you zoom in, you see people working at it. Though they seem to be on a break at the moment. http://maps.google.com/maps?client=opera&rls;=en&oe;=utf-8&channel;=suggest&um;=1&ie;=UTF-8&q;=augusta+national&fb;=1&hq;=augusta+national&cid;=0,0,5880355317064729879&ei;=8D6STregE6z44QSWxf2fBg&sa;=X&oi;=local_result&ct;=image&ved;=0CAMQ_BI Are the maps on Google Maps dated?

It might be only in the application, but there should be a timeline at the bottom that lets you see pictures from different times of year.

Yea, the Georgia summers are just too brutal to keep it in the shape they'd like it to be. It's completely closed from around May to sometime in October. Also, they make all their course alterations -- if any -- during this down time.

First off, the course is annually over-seeded with rye grass everywhere except the greens; rye grass will die off in the GA summer.  It also looks like certain greens are being rebuilt and have some kind of cover over them and they could also be sand top dressing some fairways to improve drainage.  Don't worry, it will look it's usual beautiful self come April.

    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
