I have played below 50 with wind, and didn't have a problem. I would go when it's 30 if I wanted to badly enough, the winter lasts a long time and I can't stand waiting 3 months plus. My playing partner, on the other hand, is a tremendous wuss.

He cancelled on me the other day; it was 50 degrees out and I told him that it would be 50 a week before. Not the first time he's cancelled due to slight weather. It's like he doesn't know about long sleeves.

Oh yeah, and we were planning on going to the DRIVING RANGE. I might never speak to him again. I'll certainly pretend not to know him... I don't believe the range is heated, but it is sheltered.

I'll play as long as the course is playable.

However, if it's cold and windy and they don't allow carts that day - I can't play. I have a disc issue in my back and, although I prefer to walk, when it gets around freezing or lower it gets hard to walk 18 holes because of the exposure to the cold. If it's not too terribly windy and if I'm feeling decent that day, I can usually do it.

Played yesterday and it was probably around 40 when the frost was gone and we tee'd off. I tend to actually play better when wearing layers for the cold, I guess something about it makes me slow down since there is more resistance from the clothes. But being in South Carolina I can usually play year round but there are probably two or three weeks where it is just too cold. Last year I played in the snow and the ponds were frozen, and so began me and my golfing buddies annual "Snowballs" golf outing.

You guys are animals.  If it's under 45 there's no way I'm playing.  I like golf alot but to play in sub 45 I'm going to either be freezing or wearing to many layers of clothes to make a decent swing.  In either case it takes the fun out of it.

45 is my cutoff,,mostly because I play 4-5 times per week, and I just use a cold day as a rest day, besides,,I'm likely to get a better day the next day anyway.  Was 80 today,,perfect weather.

It never gets to hot for me, walked 18 in 106 temps this summer.  Just need to watch for dehydration, and not play more than 4 days in a row,,

I played 3 weeks ago, and it was 34 degrees at tee time. I just had under armor, long pants, heavy polo, a pull over sweater, hat, and hand warmers. By the end of the round I was sweating. I was going to play tomorrow because its going to be in the 40's but I tweaked my back/neck really bad last week and its just starting to get better :(

I am planning on getting out 2 or 3 days starting tomorrow. Loving the temps right now. Only serious golfers on the course now and as long as I have my under armor and rain/wind pants and wool hat I am nice and comfortable. I have the Titleist pull off winter mittens but they are kind of annoying to swing in when you pull them up.

It's supposed to be 50-something tomorrow and all the muni courses and the executive course (ironically titled "fore seasons") are closed for the season. My only hope for a final round in 2011 will be the jank "resort" course on the north side and I don't even know if they're open.

I mean, I guess I could bum rush the exec course. It's not like there's a fence or anything....

The weather girl lied, it only got up to about 40, but I still pounded out an 86 on our "resort" course. Was KILLING the ball off the tee. Adios, 2011!

I love the cold weather. Very few people play, and I can be through 18 in just over two and a half hours --- without rushing.

The courses in my area won't let you out until the greens are above freezing -- frost or not.  I always walk, and the coldest its been is 35 --- one day the windchill brought it into the teens, but the clubs and balls don't sweat, so they don't care about windchill.  I'm almost always warm (walking helps) by the time I finish the third hole.

Fun stuff.

If it's cloudy and windy then upper 40's is my limit, if it's sunny with no wind then anytime the'll let us on is OK.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
