Slow Play Promise and Petition

I, the undersigned, hereby promise to play golf within four hours.

I promise to do everything in my power to ensure that my group plays as quickly as possible.

I promise to educate anyone in need of education on the finer points of playing fast.

I promise to alert the staff when a round takes an excessive amount of time and, if necessary, to vote with my wallet by refusing to play until reasonable pace-of-play measures are implemented.

I sign this promise/petition knowing that even if I feel I'm a fast golfer, I can improve, as everyone can.

Absolutely, I'm all for eliminating slow play. It's probably the only negative thing I can think of about the game.

The more people we can get onboard, the better off we'll all be.

And I've declared war on slow players!!

I got all over my brother in law and his friend during a round this weekend. Playing at my brother in law's club, which is private. There was no one out on that course and it took us over 4 hours and 45 minutes to play. RIDICULOUS. They walk like 80 year old ladies, and all they did was talk about their freakin' fantasy baseball teams (when they should be swinging).

We would tee off, I'd start walking towards my ball at a normal pace, and every time I'd turn around they were 100 yards behind!!

Won't be playing with those 2 again.

You talk about the "finer points of playing fast." Can you help me out here with sensible argumentation since most people just never want to realize that they are actually the ones playing slow, and sometimes you need or want to keep playing with them and not pissing them off since some people are quite sensitive on this topic.

Tried to play twlight twice and only got 14 holes done!!!
Once i was playing my great round (level par) but due to dark had to leave cos there were 3 hackers in front.

I actually enjoy a rather fast pace. Count me in, signed up and on board! I'm glad people are talking about this issue. I work for a living, have a wife and three kids and my time for golf is somewhat limited. When I do get out on a course, I want MAXIMUM enjoyment. Very little chaps my chops more than if I'm in a good rhythm playing well and, then, get stuck behind some really slow players. Maybe this petition will start a movement; let's hope so.
