Been playing golf for 20 years (off and on) and don't know my handicap. I had a casual beginning in golf, beer, blue jeans, and John Daly imitations. But in recent years I have taken a more sincere interest in learning how to play the game properly. Been working on my swing and investing more time and energy into golf generally speaking. I have broke 90 about a half dozen times, and to my dismay, seem to shoot 94 with scary consistency.
My swing is really getting better since taking lessons over the last two months. Learning a new hitting pattern based largely in S&T, some TGM, and interpretive input from my instructor. I am striking the ball better than ever and can see myself shooting in the 80's on a consistent basis literally any day now. My goal after recent improvements is actually to shoot in the 70's in the future. Something I never would have thought possible till my recent improvements. My potential in golf is much higher than I previously thought.
What I would like to do is establish by handicap, my baseline if you will, prior to seeing the full fruits from my labor on the score card. Kind of like before/after pics of the fat chick on the Weight Watcher's commercial. When I get there, I want to say "I dropped xx strokes in six months". Sounds suspiciously like "I dropped 30 pounds in two months", ha ha...
Several months ago I began saving score cards from rounds of golf. Courses are of varying degree of difficulty, slope rating, and such and my scores are largely reflective of my long term average, 91-97.  I have 10 score cards or so total, which was my goal as I understand that to be a common number used to calculate a handicap. Wondering what source or site you guys/gals use to calculate your handicap. I know very little about the subject.
Thanks for any comment.

I just started using oobgolf.com. It's free and easy to use, you can keep track of several stats not just your total score, if you so desire. It keeps your regular handicap index and also your course handicap if you have a home course. They have a database of courses that you can search through for yours. Check it out!

It's not online, but email me and I'll send you a copy of Scorecard. Stats will be easy enough for you to enter as well and useful to you in diagnosing your game.

I like oobgolf.com too.  You can use a phone app or just enter the scores online.  You can enter scores hole by hole or just a total score.  It will also generate nice graphs so you can see how your handicap is changing.

You can have it track a bunch of stats for you, or only one.

I use The Grint too. It's nice since I have some buddies that live a few hours away. With this app I can see what they shot and it shows where you stand in stats vs the other guy(s).

Also, I just recently learned a new feature.

you can set up an event amongst friends, and you don't all have to play the same day.   you can create a tournament where everyone just needs to get a round in at course xyz by a specific date.

very cool if you and your friends are all busy and it's tough to get everyone together on a specific day.

What's your anti-handicap?

Just heard about that this morning. Nor sure of my number but over the past two years my informal HCP has dropped from maybe 26 to say 19. But...the difference between my best and worst 18 for two years running has been 30 strokes. This year, so far, the difference is 21 strokes. Somehow I feel this translates to more consistency.
