I’ve been watching him on the golf channel as they are carrying the first 2 days of the Player’s. He’s been using an iron off the tee for position, but it’s definitely not working. He’s missed the fairway each time. Then he will smash a driver down the middle. I don’t get it. He’d better get in gear or he won’t make the cut.

there's too much luck involved in hitting fairways and so it doesn't suit him there.... now the british open is okay because there he can win.... seems kind of like a trend with him... bad mouth the places he cant win.. like riveria... those were definitely some terrible bumpy greens.. i'd bet it's not long till he skips the players like he does the nissan

Uh, the tournament he's played in 11 times, and only skipped this year because he wasn't even back in the U.S. until late Monday night?

Tiger makes it a general rule not to criticize golf courses on which he plays, and not to criticize those on which he doesn't play, too. He called a single hole "gimmicky" - and many agree. That's not being critical. No response from you is necessary - or welcome - on this. Get back to topic. Tiger will seemingly miss the cut. He's not playing well at all, in any phase of his game right now. Which is odd, given how he played reasonably well only last week. Oh well. Make it 9 of his last 13 and 3 of 7 this year, then. That's still pretty impressive.

it looks like tiger did make the cut. he has seemed very streaky so far this year. he has won half of his starts, that is impressive in and of itself, but has not looked good in the tournaments he didn't win. i have not seen any of the coverage so i will defer to you who have, but it seems to me he has struggled controlling his distance with his irons. very un tiger like. imo, he just needs some more time grooving the haney changes. not a bad record for a swing in transition.

I seem to remember him looking like he hurt himself on the 72nd hole last week during his approach shot. He and Stevie winced after a (seemingly) good shot. Maybe this is related? Or maybe it's just a fluke. He's in the weekend, and maybe he'll make a huge climb up the leaderboard on the weekend, just like his friend CH3 has done a few times this year.

It just goes to show the guy's human, and can't win them all. No one's perfect. Frankly, I think it's good for golf if he missed a few cuts--I'm sick of it being Tiger this, Tiger that, Tiger everything. I've said before, he's a great golfer, but I'm tired of seeing the guy.

If Lefty fumbles the ball and Tiger picks it up this weekend, I'm going to shit a chicken.

Promise? I figured I'd quote it so you can't back out.

Just so I understand it, if Phil doesn't win and Tiger plays better on the weekend than he did Thur/Fri, you're going to poop out a chicken, right?

well, he's dropped to +3 thru 8, I don't see him being in contention this weekend.

He's +7 overall. The +3 was just for today's round.

he just doesnt seem to be hitting any "tiger" like shots this week. i think its just a matter of him not being on his game; though i thought he was unimpressive in the masters and he finished t2 so who knows...

He just didn't have it, pretty simple. He missed too many putts, dropped too many shots early and his great round came too late. He's also clearly having issues off the tee. It happens.... what I am tired of hearing is everytime Tiger doesn't look imortal, fans, the media, whoever, make up excuses for him not winning. Like he was hurt or he was sick or he had a crappy mattress last night... How about he just didn't play well? He'll be just fine and I'd he surprised if he didn't contend at the US Open next month.

What's even funnier is the fact that whenever Tiger loses or doesnt play well and Phil wins, all of a sudden Phil is in Tigers league and becomes a threat to Tiger....That's downright laughable..Phil is going to have to do a lot more than change his swing to contend with Tiger over any length of time....

couldn't agree more, it seems every time tiger doesn't win i see articles saying "What's wrong with Tiger" and "Phil's chance to be #1". Tiger's only human, and i think 9 for 13 ain't bad man...Tom Brady would love that completion percentage in football, barry bonds would love that batting average, and tracy mcrgady would love that fg %...and it's golf were talking about.
p.s. screw you rory, even with tiger playing sub-par he finished higher than you...quite "beatable" right. any guess when people are gunna have to "Rory" proof golf courses??

    • Snap @ Tour Spoon! Birdied 11 yesterday. Hit a poor iron ,stopped on edge of bunker , pitch with my lob wedge landed about 6’ away and went in. Only 12 & 14 to go, long par5’s into the prevailing wind. Might be waiting a while although I did have about 15’ on 12 after the birdie on 11, didn’t miss by much.
    • Tested the Maxfli TourS yesterday. Compared to my former ball, the Titleist AVX, I got an extra 10 yards off the driver and half a club (5-7 yards) off the irons. The combined extra yardage from the driver and fairway wood meant that on par-5s where I usually hit an 8-iron third shot, I hit a PW. It's just a smidgen softer than the AVX and seems to spin well. Some of the reviews indicated a low ball flight, but I did not notice it. I also did not observe any problems with the paint quality, which was an issue with previous Maxfli models up to and including the U series.  My previous round I tested the Bridgestone E6, a two-piece ball with a different cover. It was OK; the same distance and feel as the AVX but with less spin.
    • Sad tale.  Both the A's and Raiders.  IMO, cities shouldn't be building stadiums for MLB/NFL teams.  But that's the world we live in.   DAY 3:  30-min range session with irons and wedges.  Working on follow thru -- no hooks! 🙂
    • Backswing: Body is responsible for taking the club around. Arms are responsible for making the club go up.  Downswing: The process is reversed. Weight Forward So, your arms need to do stuff. Set up to the ball. Do not raise your arms at all. Rotate your body as you would in the swing. You will notice your hands stay down near your right hip. So, how does the club get up? Your arms raise it up. You can't take your arms out of the swing. What you are describing might be more of a feel, but it also might not be correct.
    • It depends on what you mean by "while the core remains still" I wouldn't consider his core "remaining still" here, DJ's abs, belly button, and belt buckle have rotated almost 90 degrees by the top of the backswing. Those components of his core then have to rotate/uncoil on the downswing. Far from remaining still IMO.
