I think we'll get a big climb up the leader board from one of these players today.

10:05  GROUP 6    S. Stricker        +4    and     R. Fowler  +4

10:45  GROUP 10  C. Schwartzel   +3   and     T. Woods   +3

One of them will shoot 67 or better. Its still a bit cool but hardly any wind.

Maybe Graeme will have a shot as well.

A year ago, Martin Kaymer was #1 in the world, but lots of people thought Graeme McDowell was the true Best Golfer in the World. And Tiger fans like me were sure that he would come back. Now, all three are tied at 3 over. As Alanis says, "Isn't it ironic?"

You having a slow afternoon, Brocks, waiting for the golf?!

Slow and frustrating. Tiger's on the course, but no video for another 90 minutes at least.

Man, I wish they would just broadcast from start to finish for four days so we don't have to miss ANY of our favorite players. I have to wait till 12:30 EST just to stream online and even then it only follows 2 pairings, Amen Corner, and a couple other select holes I believe. Then it doesn't come on T.V. till 3:30 EST and you end up missing have the round. UGH...

I'm assuming Woods and Schwartzel will be one of those featured pairings, or at least I hope they are. On a side note I noticed the amateur Kelly Kraft is playing by himself. He teed off first at 9:15; I bet it's weird playing by yourself at a Major tournament such as The Masters.

As someone who really doesn't care if Tiger wins, I even thought Faldo was too hard on him after the club kick yesterday!

"lost his mind"

"doesn't have a clue how to put the club face on the ball"

lol

I've seen a couple of sources that say they are the first featured group today. The live feed should start at 1230 EDT. For now, I'm like Reagan reading the ticker tape. Tiger has again failed to birdie the par 5 second, but he did birdie the third, and is now 2 over for the tournament.

No big moves up the leaderboard have been forthcoming so far. The lowest round among the players on the course right now is 1-under.

Well that's good news, at least I'll have something to watch in about half an hour. Tiger also birdied the par 3 4th and moves to +1. It's good to see him off to a solid start, hopefully this momentum can carry him through the round and not fizzle out like it did yesterday.

The 'Amen Corner' is now streaming live as well for anyone that is interested.

Three fun pairings on Saturday:

Sergio and Rory - one guy who needs to win and another who probably will win

Phil and Vijay - no problems here if Phil wears soft spikes

Gary Woodland and Zach Johnson - drinking game: down one very time Woodland reaches a par 5 in two and Johnson reaches in three

Well, now they're just messing with us. Masters.com said coverage of Tiger's group would start at 1230 EDT, and as of 1240 it still isn't on. Would have loved to see how he failed to birdie 8.

    • Yeah that didn't pass the smell test
    • Bryson got hit with a 2 shot penalty, after the round, for improving his lie on hole 5.  Here is a post on X, showing how he stepped on high grass when he was looking down his target line.  When they cut to the side shot, you can see how close he was behind the ball.  I think the R&A probably made the correct decision. You just have to be really careful when you are walking in the high grass, around the ball and where you are to make a swing.

    • Day 27 (17 July 26) - Normally an 18 hole day, but due to commitments abbreviated the round to 9 holes (played the back nine at home course).  Had a solid session where even the worst miss (tee shot off 18) was fully playable.  Shot a solid 39 (6pars, 3bogies) - not dbls, no three putts - just boring golf.
    • Overall, well said. People have to be very careful in trying to describe very complex problem in simple terms. In this case, it is a clear fundamental misunderstanding of Newton's 1st and 3rd laws.  To clarify more on the misinterpretation of Newton's 1st law. The exact interpretation of Newton's 1st Law....  "Every body continues in its state of rest, or of uniform motion in a straight line, unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed upon it" yea, a body will stay motionless unless a force acts upon it. An object will stay on its path of motion unless a force acts upon it.  I get it, complex physics problems are difficult. There is a lot of simplification done in most physics class when it is taught. A classic problem uses a frictionless surface. Projectile motion excludes drag and wind direction. Collisions are usually elastic. The golf swing is not a simple physics problem.  Yea, I think they got caught up the data on the graphs and are not truly understanding cause and effect.  If the golfer isn't first pushing into the ground, then the ground isn't going to push back.  The internal forces of the body create the motion, not the external forces from the ground. The ground isn't like what Psy uses to start his concert. 🤣 You probably need to be connected to the ground and have those GRF to help the body produce the motion you want. Your body has to move in the right way to produce the GRF which helps you move the body in the way you want. Body motion precedes the GRF.
