I really miss Shot Tracker and the stats we get on regular tour events. I like to look at fairways hit, GIR, putts, left or right tendencies etc.

Somewhere late in the second nine they commented that Lee was leading the field in GIR.  I just know that he was close a lot yesterday; he made four birdies on the back nine, but could have made 7 or 8.  And he missed a few really easy putts on Friday/Saturday, including a 3-putt from like 6 feet on 18 on Friday.

I've learned to always add 1.5 hours to the recording for golf tournaments.  For some strange reason, I really enjoy watching golf as a recording as opposed to watching it live.  Not only can I skip all of the genuflecting, commercial breaks and sponsor plugs, etc.  But there is much less of a chance of me seeing random Facebook updates of friends spoiling the golf results for me or text messages updating me on the action.  Golf just isn't important to most of my friends I guess :)

Anyway, from doing that over the past year, I learned that 30 minutes extra was not enough to catch a whole round.  Then I learned that an hour extra wasn't even enough in the case of delays, extra slow rounds and or playoffs.  So starting a few rounds ago, I made sure to always add 1.5 hours to any golf recording.

But you're right, I'm still not sure if it would catch the whole thing.

I feel bad for Louis, he played just absolutely error-free golf the whole day. He made every important par putt on his 18 holes and just barely missed the putt to win on the first and the putt to tie on the second hole. Lee Westwood is another guy who deserves a lot of applause for his stunning play from tee to green this week, I can't believe how many lips he burned. If you could combine the putting of Louis and the ball striking of Westwood, you would have a winner by 10 strokes.

That's why the other players call him "crack pipe."

Sang-Moon Bae at 200/1 - each way - because he has contended too much this year not to back him at that price

Peter Hanson at 150/1 - each way - I like the odds and he is the sort of player that will end up in the top 5 having flown under everyone's radar all week - see last year's US Open

That only leaves a couple of people in the field that I haven't backed and I don't see Sandy or Larry recapturing past form!!!

That shot of Bubba's cost me £450 - arse!

But Hanson & Louis covered what I put on and then some.

Great tournament - who needs Tiger and Rory in contention to make it great viewing.

Looks like Bubba mistook the old guy's "Take it away guys - I'll step back (but not really) so you can do the jacket presentation" as a handshake offer. Then he shook Chuck's because he didn't want to slight the defending champion. I learned more about Bubba in this clip than his speech.

Did anyone see this during the jacket presentation to Bubba? I noticed it when it happened live but didn't think twice about it. Then a friend sent me a link to this GIF. It's pretty hilarious when you watch it a few times through. It almost looks choreographed.

    • Bryson got hit with a 2 shot penalty, after the round, for improving his lie on hole 5.  Here is a post on X, showing how he stepped on high grass when he was looking down his target line.  When they cut to the side shot, you can see how close he was behind the ball.  I think the R&A probably made the correct decision. You just have to be really careful when you are walking in the high grass, around the ball and where you are to make a swing.

    • Day 27 (17 July 26) - Normally an 18 hole day, but due to commitments abbreviated the round to 9 holes (played the back nine at home course).  Had a solid session where even the worst miss (tee shot off 18) was fully playable.  Shot a solid 39 (6pars, 3bogies) - not dbls, no three putts - just boring golf.
    • Overall, well said. People have to be very careful in trying to describe very complex problem in simple terms. In this case, it is a clear fundamental misunderstanding of Newton's 1st and 3rd laws.  To clarify more on the misinterpretation of Newton's 1st law. The exact interpretation of Newton's 1st Law....  "Every body continues in its state of rest, or of uniform motion in a straight line, unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed upon it" yea, a body will stay motionless unless a force acts upon it. An object will stay on its path of motion unless a force acts upon it.  I get it, complex physics problems are difficult. There is a lot of simplification done in most physics class when it is taught. A classic problem uses a frictionless surface. Projectile motion excludes drag and wind direction. Collisions are usually elastic. The golf swing is not a simple physics problem.  Yea, I think they got caught up the data on the graphs and are not truly understanding cause and effect.  If the golfer isn't first pushing into the ground, then the ground isn't going to push back.  The internal forces of the body create the motion, not the external forces from the ground. The ground isn't like what Psy uses to start his concert. 🤣 You probably need to be connected to the ground and have those GRF to help the body produce the motion you want. Your body has to move in the right way to produce the GRF which helps you move the body in the way you want. Body motion precedes the GRF.
