Gotta give her props for finishing University. Congrats on graduating. Looks like she's the more well rounded person for it. Nice to see someone taking her education not for granted.

Quote:

She typically skipped the spring quarter to focus on playing LPGA tournaments, orginally expecting to take six years to graduate. Then she realized many of her friends were graduating in four years and leaving Stanford last summer. Wie accelerated her pace, stayed in school for the 2011 spring quarter and took a full class load in the fall and again this winter.

Inevitably, her two worlds intersected. Sometimes, during tournaments in distant lands, Wie awoke at 3 a.m. to take a midterm. She often brought her laptop on trips and wrote papers late at night. The perpetual balancing act and travel schedule occasionally left her exhausted, but she wanted a Stanford degree.

Good for her.  Now I want to see her live up to the hype of being the female Tiger Woods.

It wasn't hype when she was a teenager. In her mid teens, she was way, way better than Tiger at the same age (relative to players of her gender). At age 15-16, she finished in the top 5 in five out of six consecutive majors. Not many pros of either sex have done that. But for whatever reason, and it may have been more due to injury than is generally known, she didn't fulfill that early promise. When Tiger turned pro, he said there was a world of difference in being able to play golf full time, compared to splitting time with Stanford studies. Maybe Michelle will have the same upturn in her game.

Yeah I look forward to seeing her play full time too.  I was just a DIII college athlete, and I know even at my DIII level I could have been MUCH better if I'd been getting paid to practice and work out full time!  At her size and with her distance and obvious innate skill, I still think there's some chance she could end up at Tiger levels of dominance for a while.

I agree with what you said, but I'm mainly posting just to say I love the bear porn in your avatar.

Agree, the hype though was that she would be the female Tiger Woods and dominate the LPGA like no one ever had.  In that sense, she hasnt lived up to the hype.  I actually really like Michelle Wie.  Shes cute and shes got a great swing, Im just not sure that she has the mental game or the desire to be the best.  I hope she proves me wrong.
