Me, not so much - my wife & I started playing at the same time & she looks forward to our weekend golf as much as I do  ... I'd recommend it

golf is more like my mistress - I sneak out to be with her when I can, I don't (always) tell my wife, and I don't care if she can make me a sandwich.

My wife and I are expecting our first so I'm playing at least twice a week. I'm trying to get as much playing time as I can because I'lll be divorcing golf soon with only occasional weekend visitation rights.

I honestly did not even notice that.  You should make the text a different color or something so it is more noticeable.

Why don't you just lock them?

Locking isn't a feature we have yet (for auto-generated threads), and the fonts in signatures can only be that color.

"... time essentially wasted". Pardon? Methinks the poor chap's wife has gotten to him! My rejoinder would be (not that I ever have to justify myself in this regard you understand), "but daahling, you knew about my obsession on that happy day we were wed." Then, "dearest, take this and buy yourself another pair of shoes." p.s. I didn't notice the link in the OP either - only after reading Erik's post. But then again I can't follow my own drives any more. And it's not because I've gotten longer. Sigh.

Ah okay. I think people are just so use to skipping over signatures that they don't even notice it.

Maybe no one read the article but thought the question was a interesting enough subject to comment on. I did comment on the the article after I saw the note.

easy answer is that I don't look at signatures, in fact, I turn them off on boards that allow it.

Is it such a bad thing? I never read the articles but I always read the forums.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
