I am not responsible for slow play.

I practice and play with a well rehearsed PSR. I have even timed it and I have got it down to 22 secs. It used to be over 25 secs but I wanted to get closer to 15. I'm satisfied with my present routine but my playing partners (usually strangers) in tournaments can sometimes complain behind my back about my slow play.

I find this very strange because I am know by my friends as the one golfer they know who can play 10 rounds with the same ball. The only time I go into the rough is when I am helping my partners look for their errand shots.

To put it simply, I may take 5 to 10 seconds longer than average for my shots, but It doesn't get close to the average 20-30 mins per round, I spend looking for balls that my partners have sprayed into funny places.

BTW my putting routine is much quicker, about 12 secs.

So to sum up, I believe that if some of these golfers would adopt a better PSR, perhaps we would actually get round faster.

Is an "errand" shot somehow diffeent from an errant shot?

How do you know that they are complainin g behind your back?

Overly long pre shot routines are irritating - possibly moreso than rounds that are extended by ball searches.

The fact that you say you never go in the rough is a fair indication of your grip on reality here.

Te logic you use is flawed. You may as well say that if others wear the same colour shirt as you they would get around faster.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

All this talk about pace of play has got me wondering about my own lately. I need to see about how long it takes me to prepare and hit each shot.

There's always spies on my payroll who find these things out for me.

I'm not a long hitter, driver 275yds and 7 iron 160yds, so I manage to keep it on the short stuff. I would rather watch someone take an extra 5-10 secs in preparation than pretend I am searching thoroughly for his 3rd lost ball in as many holes.

Now that's logical!

I'm not sure but I believe the average for amateurs is between 15-20 secs. I'm at worst 2-7 secs slower than average.

You are saying that longer PSPs help kep the ball on the fairway and you have a long PSP and keep it in the fairway.

PSPs are essential, but long ones don't make you hit it straight.

Is 22 secs really that long? Speaking for myself, any shorter and I can turn into a regular hacker. I love when someone disturbs me during my routine because I start all over again. I'm pretty sure that would drive you nuts.

I play within my limits. I don't like playing from deep grass or in the woods and I also don't like losing balls. I bet most people don't realise that a ball stays in good condition for at least 180 holes of play. I carry 3 balls in my bag for tournaments and two for normal games. I have never run out.

Then maybe it is time to step up from mini - golf. I can say that I have never lost a ball playing that too.

There's a bit of a difference between a typo (spelling "different" diffeent) and not knowing the diference between "errand" and "errant".

I think he's a troll, though.

It's a very odd premise to start a thread with.

Pity you can't spell difference properly yet. How do you decide that my effort is not a typo.

I can take it because I am rich and never hit off the fairway.

I think its a conversational topic that is apt for the heading 'Golf Talk'. How can you throw such claims around? There's a difeence between trolling and discussions on theme.
