Ahhh SoCal,  right.  Calling people liars, expecting that people just accept they were ripped off, thanks for the input.  Helpful, NOT.  I did not buy their cheapest offering.  I did not do math on upgrading my defect.  Why not just buy the 3x?  But thanks for whatever point you were trying to make except for calling someone you have never net a liar.  Tells me a lot about you and makes whatever you say next worthless.

I don't see how my location has anything to do with this.

My point was, considering you sent back an out of warranty item, being offered a discount on a replacement is more than fair.

Also, I don't need to meet you in person to say you're a liar, I just have to read your posts.

Consistent with others from your location.  You read parts of my post, and ignored others.  You decided I was a liar and also name called.  I stated facts, have accepted that I waited to send the range finder in too late, and believe that there is a defect in that product that deserves some level of review.  In fact, there are forums suggesting that in the past Leupold has supported their products well after warranty.  This is all after the fact for me.

You continue to call people liars anonymously, snowflake.  I get you.  You are the warranty police, you neither speak for Leupold or against.  And you got an upgrade at a good price.  Good for you.  I hope you feel better just to pontificate on how you know warranties and how you signed on to the defective product upgrade thing.  I know I do.

It's great when companies honor a warranty for something out of warranty but you can't be upset if they don't.

The fact is you wanted to come here and vent, got called out and now you're upset.

Get over it.

Not going to call anyone a liar but the above comment just isn't called for. We cant go around discriminating against people just because of where they live.

Back on to the topic at hand, i know how frustrating it can be when you have paid quite a lot for something and just as the warranty expires it conks out. Its all thanks to the small print.

Comapanies can deal with claims that are just out of warranty but its at their discretion. I always side with caution on these things.

Ok, resureecting this thread - please ignore the silly argument.

I'm having the same problem with my Leupold gx-4, my display shows just the crosshairs and the last digit of the yardage.  At one point it showed only half of the battery life indicator, and seemed to slowly fade out more, starting from the bottom left of the viewfinder.  I replaced the battery, but it did nothing.  I may get a different battery (I was using a Duracell lithium cr2 before).   But I'm concerned its the device itself.

Any thoughts?

UPDATE:  No go, two year warranty. Lifetime is for their non-electronic scopes (like their rifle scopes).  Probably just going to buy a Bushnell.  The Tour 4 seems like a good price at $274 on amazon.

Got the offer, 60% off MSRP (+tax) for a new one.  I'm going to get a gx-3i3 now.  🙂

Leupold offered you that because your out of warranty rangefinder failed?

Damn, that’s generous!

Yeah, I was impressed too.  I may now buy a rifle scope from them too (those are lifetime warranty).

I have worked with them in the past and they have been GREAT. I had similar issues and they replace the unit for shipping cost. They were polite and helpful at every stage. They were a "little slow" taking about 2 weeks but I love them.

    • Day 521 - 2026-03-06 Got some good work in for 15 minutes or so with someone overseeing. Downswing work.
    • Day 201 3-6 Wider backswing trying to blend it all together for a full swing. Not looking good yet.
    • Day 74 - 2026-03-06 Backswing work out back at the net. Slow.
    • Day 101: did a stack session. Worked on hands down in the mirror during breaks.
    • Got told off yesterday for doing full swings and full speed swings so went to the range this lunchtime and did some slow speed stuff and freezers. A few videos from my session.    First few are DTL then some FO This one is of me looking at the club on the way back. I think I get my arms lifting all the way back, not that you’d know because YouTube keeps glitching on me.    Second one is two slow backswings. This glitches the first one but the glitch looks like a pretty good position so I’ll live. Second one works. Then another swing back and hit. When I’m not watching or really focusing on it it seems that my upper arm doesn’t lift at first, rather stays roughly where it is and I add the lift at the end so the club comes a bit more inside. I think that’s what I’m going to focus on. This one glitches a bit too but it’s really just pausing. This shows the club coming a bit more inside but not as laid off at the top Then a couple of face on ones And lastly one smoothie and one freezer at normal speed  Quite happy with how this went. I can see my arms are better when I take it slower. Also while I’m still pitching my arms out it doesn’t seem to be as extreme as yesterday. Light at the end of the tunnel 🙂
