For a walker who carries, there's no "while going back to my bag". I tried them with my first shiny full set of irons, but the first time I hit a rock in the rough that put a gouge in my otherwise perfect 5-iron that stopped that process in its tracks. Now at my age every ounce I can avoid carrying is worth it.

You hit the ball with the bag on your back? That is hardcore!

No, of course I don't. I also don't set it down so far away that I have more than a couple steps to pick it up. Do you leave your bag on the cart path when you walk?

I'm kidding and I agree with you. It just sounded funny and I immediately got an image of someone taking a full swing with a bag on their back LOL.

It also made me think of this.

Priceless! Gotta act all casual about though, it's gonna be hard as hell to keep a straight face.

Make sure I'm the last one to tee off.  Then after I tee off, march right down the fairway and put my driver back in the bag like putting an arrow in a quiver.  Never break stride or act like anything is out of the ordinary.

To up the wierdo factor, I'll do some up-downs while I'm waiting to hit my second shot, then dump a bottle of water on my head.

Awesome, ask someone else in the group if they'll film your next shot because, you know, you're always working on something!

I don't like iron covers and don't use them, but see a few people with them on the course.  Oddly enough, whenever I see someone with iron covers, they're covering Wilson Staff irons.  I always thought Wilson Staff made decent irons for the price, but it seems that everyone who has them wants to make sure they're not seen....

My clubs stay in the car all the time because I play after work a lot, and the minimal bag chatter they get just adds character.

Ummm, what the...how did you...seriously? I have W/S irons and use covers. Guess I'm busted!

Alright here's my defense:

1. I don't look at my irons as tools. They are my babies. My harem. My art collection. I don't even like to use them to hit those nasty rock hard range balls with the dirt and sand embedded in them.

$(KGrHqQOKjwE2LgMfPY5BNpM1jncY!~~_35.jpg

2. I don't like the constant clanking sound when I walk, and if I ride the abuse from bouncing all over the place can put a hurting on my babies.

3. Taking them off/on adds 2 seconds to my shot routine.

4. There have been many used forged sets I have eyed on the Bay (eg, Titleist 690 MBs) but I passed them up because they were scarred and dented all over from bag chatter.

I guess they are a little Metro, but whatever, I'm secure with my manliness.

You should be in a Fedex commercial.  I love the one with the guy and his wife in bed and he keeps checking the "baby" monitor that is looking at his clubs.  Also, the one where the guy is locking his clubs into a car seat.

(The shrink ray and cold fusion ones are even better, but not applicable here)

I check the rating of the face and sole and if that's in good condition the chatter is typically within reason. I've seen sweet spotted irons that had little to no bag chatter.

Haha, that video!

Head covers come off my driver and putter on #1 and stay off til heading back into the trunk. The others I decover when walking to my ball and recover when walking back, or at least once back in the cart heading to next shot. I play Ping G2btw, I know they won't take a ton of damage with some bouncing, but it drives me nuts hearing the clicking while riding around... A buddy of mine has some 1970 pawn shop clubs... sounds like a child in with a set of pots and pans riding with him lol.

    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.

    • Well the first advice I would give is to look at your swing. If you are swing out to in, it may be difficult to fix your misses with club adjustments. They would only be a bandaid. I use midsize grips because I have long fingers and I feel I have more control with them. I also have tinkered with shaft length and swing weight. But I know when I miss it’s because my swing was off.
