My vote is for the 588. I'd buy one or two more in 60* and 51* if I could find em in chrome. The vokey swing weight bothers me. They are very different in that respect.

I literally made this EXACT SAME thread, and got verbally raped by Shorty. Good luck if he responds.

I don't think you're a real part of the TST community until you get scolded by him for something seemingly innocent like this.  It's sort of his way of saying welcome.

No one has mentioned the word "forged" or discussed the superior feel of forged wedges over cast wedges so he's still in alert mode.

Any chance you can go to an outdoor demo day? Went to one two weekends ago.

Tried the 588s and the Callaway Forged. Both are excellent wedge models. The 588 Forged in 56.16 was wild - you could really go after the ball on a half-wedge and get super loft and check-spin. Felt really smooth, and less grabby (turf hang-up) than CG14 on shots hit less than perfect.

Personally, I never have cared for the Vokey line. Technically they are superb and offer a lot of variety, but they just feel odd.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Go with forged, the feel and sound is far, far superior to cast.

Seriously though, the 588's are fantastic, and by far the best non custom wedges I have ever hit.

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

Titleist 913 D2 9.5* w/ UST Mamiya ATTAS 3 80 w/ Harrison Shotmaker & Billy Bobs afternarket Hosel Adaptor (get this if you don't have it for your 913)
Wilson Staff Ci-11 4-GW (4I is out of the bag for a hybrid, PW and up were replaced by Edel Wedges)
TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

The 588s and Vokey's are both great. Personally I upgraded my wedges to the 588s (based on I was more familiar with the feel/performance Cleveland wedges from my previous LW). I demo'd wedges for about a month or so before making the decision. It came down to the 588s or the Vokeys... 588s. The cool thing I noticed and like about the Vokey SW was that they have a version that is edged (not sure what that is called) so you can open the club up a lot more. It really makes it a very versitle club. I think a lot of the pros have the edging done, so that's probably where they got the idea to produce a standard version like that. It was a really nice club! Either way, I think you'll be happy! Good luck man

HELLOOOOOOOOOOO January 2010! Do a search on USGA web site equipment tab  http://www.usga.org/InfoClubsDB/search_results.asp Cleveland 588 wedges = most ARE NOT conforming to groove rules Titelist Volkey = many ARE conforming to groove rules 90 + % of the clubs have been rendered" illegal" by these idots. Yes I know for lesser than competative events....

Cleveland released a NEW line of 588 wedges that ARE conforming this year... They brought back the line after a few year hiatus.....

I'm a big Titleist fan, but once I tried the 588, it's hard to play my Vokeys ;)

I really, really tried to like my $109 Vokey 56-08. I hit buckets and buckets with it, and still had issues blading it across the green on the worst possible occassions. I was given a 588 black CG wedge in 56 degree, used it for one round and tried to mis-hit it... I couldn't.

Needless to say, it's still in my bag. I just order a used 60 off of ebay.

My son's happy... I gave him the Vokey.

Sounds like these will be my next wedges.    This is a great testimony.

What loft does everyone have? 52/56/60?

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
