Oh good. I'm not in a big enough area for idealgolfer and groupon to have any matter to me.

Well I've toned down my club ho'ing big time in the last year, but that didn't stop me from snatching up a Ping G15 driver for $83 shipped from eBay within the last month, along with a Bridgestone J36 pocket cavity 6-iron (eBay, $22 shipped) to swap out the cavity 6-iron in my combo set for a little more forgiveness.

The only things in in the market for now are a fresh pair of golf shoes, the next good deal on balls (gotta stock up), and maybe a couple new gloves.

Lets see.

I have 2 fairly new drivers (Rapture and G10)

Two 3Hybrids (Wilson Staff DX-I and G10) and a two 4 Hybrids (same make/models).

1 3wood and 1 5wood, both Ping Raptures

3 Iron sets- Ping G10's 3-PW, Wilson Staff Ci11's 4-GW (my current Irons), and Brand new, 2 year old Nike VR blades 3-PW that I got at an amazing deal through complete dumb luck.

2 sets of wedges, with Edels on the way. 3 DSG 588's, 4 Vokeys. All different lofts and bounces.

4 Putters- Wilson Staff 8875, Wilson Staff 8881, Seemore Si-4, SC 009.

2 bags, Ogio Kingpin and and an '09 Ping Staff leather bag.

So basicly I have 2 full sets, and the beginnings of a third. I know that will only get better. Its rare that I sell or trade any sports gear, unless a good friend wants something im not using. I spend a lot on golf stuff, but im within my means, so its all good.

Those Nike Blades I picked up are by far the best deal I have ever found. 365$, tax in, custom fitted right there in the shop. They somehow ended up with a bunch of back stock blades really cheap from either Nike or a wholesaler, im not sure. But they had 14 sets, and last time I was there, they were down to 2. Im not good enough to game them I dont think, but I do use the 3 iron at the range. I figure if I can learn to consistently hit the 3i off the turf, then I can start gaming them. Im a bit away from that, but not as far as I expected.

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

Titleist 913 D2 9.5* w/ UST Mamiya ATTAS 3 80 w/ Harrison Shotmaker & Billy Bobs afternarket Hosel Adaptor (get this if you don't have it for your 913)
Wilson Staff Ci-11 4-GW (4I is out of the bag for a hybrid, PW and up were replaced by Edel Wedges)
TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

Seemore Si-4 Black Nickel Putter

You guys are funny. I was a little like that when I put my set together. I am the opposite of you guys. I am the "over analyzer". I will scrutinize my purchases to the mmmteenth and once I buy something, that is the end of my search. I like what I get so much I can not put any other club in the bag.

I did have a list for this season: Driver, new shoes, cart bag and umbrella. I got all of them with the final one coming last week (I started shopping the stuff probably in January). I would like to get another pair of the shoes in white. I would like to get a matching 3 iron still for my set which I have been shopping for over a year for a deal on a used one. For me the hunt is the entertainment.

this feels like a support group, glad to see it though.  I have recently gotten a new driver (diablo octane from 2 years ago so wasn't that expensive), scotty cameron newport 2.5, new ogio bag, 3 vokey's and whenever I am in a store that sells balls I pretty much have to buy a dozen

Those Nike Free's look amazing. Definitely gonna be a purchase from me.

But I'm glad I'm not the only one who goes crazy and buys and inordinate amount of products regularly. Definitely glad I started this thread (sorry to anyone who was badly influenced by it :) )

I straddle the fence on this. I have always been very much a researcher when it comes to purchases. Unfortunately, the timing as of recent has forced me to be a bit impulsive. I know what I want, how much I want to spend, and what order it goes in. Then some deal comes across that falls in two of those 3 categories and a wrench is in my plans!

I just bought another one of the same driver I already own on eBay.  I got a Nickent 4DX Evolver driver with a UST V2 High Launch shaft and headcover for $40 including shipping from Rockbottom Golf.  I lost my headcover last week (why don't the people who find them take these things to the clubhouse?  A friend lost his on the same course a few months ago and his wasn't taken to the clubhouse either.  Just a little rant about people...)  It would cost me $15-$20 for a replacement, and the shaft itself sells for a minimum of $30.  I've been wanting to try the shaft for a while, so I spent less and have an extra driver head.  Impulsive, but well thought out in advance of bidding on the driver.

Well....just in the last couple days I bought a Callaway Diablo Octane driver, Diablo edge irons, a new Callaway bag and some balls.  My son is starting to learn how to play so I figured I should give him my Nike clubs and get new clubs for myself.   Yeah that's it.

I hadn't bought anything golf related for a long time  (10 years)  so after a little time off from the game  (3 years)  I find myself making time to play,  so I needed to re-up on a few things.

This week I've purchased:

Callaway Octane Tour driver

Allen Edmonds 1-Up golf shoes

Titleist and Footjoy gloves

Nike Dry Fit pants.

A couple dozen Pro-V1's that were monogrammed incorrectly and refused by a customer (or so I'm told)

I might be crazy,  but I find myself wanting a new belt....  not sure why,  I've got a couple of nice ones,  but the crazy-bright-colored puma ones are calling my name for some odd reason.

I mentioned before that I infrequently replace clubs, but I bought a new club today

My home course has 2 par5s that sometimes leaves me (after a good drive) with a downhill lie 4-iron approach into the green and over a ditch that protects the fronts both greens......not a good combination for a 4-iron!!  I tend to hit medium to low trajectory trap-draws anyway with my 4-iron, so a change makes sense. I already have a TM R11 rescue with 18degree loft (= to a 3-iron) that I really like, so I added a matching 21degree R11 Rescue to replace my 4-iron. Depending on the severity of the lie, I often opted for a choke-down 3-rescue and trying to fashion some kind of a cut into those greens to avoid hitting the 4-iron..........this replacement should make a nice overdue addition to my bag!!

What's in Paul's Bag:
- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Driver
- Big Bertha Alpha 815 3-wood
- Callaway Razr Fit 5-wood
- Callaway Big Bertha 4-5 Rescue Clubs
-- Mizuno Mx-25 six iron-gap wedge
- Mizuno Mp-T4 56degree SW
- Mizuno Mp-T11 60degree SW
- Putter- Ping Cadence Ketsch

Have any of you guys been tempted to buy the Taylor Made r11s driver or is that too "gimmicky"?

I almost did it today. Im a beer salesman an visit the same four courses every week. Today one of the courses had vokeys (non conforming grooves) on sale for 74.95. It took everything I had to not buy a set. It's still running through my mind. Don't know if I will be able to resist on my next visit next week.

Latest purchase: a new push cart from Ebay.  My old pull cart does have a crack in it but its not as if I exactly needed a new cart.

    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
    • Day 580 - 2026-05-04 Played eight holes. Sometimes golf kicks you in the nuts. 😉
    • I work with a lot of golfers who want more shaft lean at impact, who currently have AoAs that range from +2° to -2°, and who love to see the handle lower and more "in front of their trail thigh" from face-on at P6. And a lot of these golfers try to solve the issue by working on the downswing. They do something to drag the handle forward. Or they just leave their right thigh farther back so the same handle location "looks" farther forward. Or they move the ball back in their stance. Or they push themselves down into the ground to get the handle lower and increase (decrease?) their AoA (to be more negative). The real fix is often to get wider in the backswing. To do LESS in the backswing. To hinge less, fold the trail arm less, abduct the trail arm less. I had a case of this over the weekend. Before, the player had 110° of trail elbow bend, "lifted" his trail humerus only a few degrees, etc. The club traveled quite a bit around him, and he tended to "pick" the ball from the fairways. In the "after" swings below (which are mild exaggerations — this golfer does not need to end up at < 70° of elbow bend. These were slower backswings with "hit it as hard as you normally would" intent downswings), you can see that he bent his elbow about 70° instead of 110° and lifted his right arm an extra ~15° or more. You can't see how much less this moved his hands across his chest (right arm abduction), but it was also decreased. His hands stayed more "in front of" his right shoulder rather than traveling "beside" them so much. The two swings look like this: The change at P6, without talking about the downswing one little bit (outside of him telling me that he tends to pick the ball), is remarkable: Without 110° of elbow bend to get out (which he gets to 80°, a loss of 30°), the golfer actually loses slightly less elbow bend (70 - 50 = 20), but delivers 30° less elbow bend, lowering the handle and letting the elbow get "in front of" the rib cage… because it never got "behind" or "beside" the rib cage. If you look at this video showing the before/afters of P6, you'll note the handle location (both vertically and horizontally) and the shoulders (the ball is in the same place in these frames). This golfer's path was largely unaffected (still pretty straight into the ball, < 3° path and often < 1.5°), but his AoA jumped to -5° ± 2°. I've always said, and in talking with other instructors they agree and feel similarly, that we spend a lot of time working on the backswing. This is another example of why.
