The past 2 weeks, I have been pulling about 7 out of 10 drives. I am not making bad contact, and it isn't hooking, it is just a dead pull, with a slight draw. I don't think I am making bad contact, because although I am pulling it, often I will be in the holes fairy adjacent to the hole I am on, and it will go around 290 yards.

What I am use to, is hitting a little more than a slight draw on the right side of the fairway and drawing into center, that is usually what I am comfortable doing.

-(Also, I was wondering if anyone had any tips for irons, with ball striking(Since I was 4 years old I have always hit sort of behind the ball causing the ball to have way to much front spin, I know the idea where I have to hit the ball to strike it correctly, but I am having trouble finding a good drill to help me with this. )

Where is your ball position at address with driver? Has it creeped too far forward? Are you staring your swing from the ground or with your shoulders?

Good point here. Good drill for hitting down on the ball is you practice iron shots focus your eyes on the front of the ball instead of the back of it. Also, on the driveryou could be taking theclub back too far on the back swing

I use a 3 quarter swing at the moment stopping when my club is perpendicular to the ground.

I position my ball to my big toe of my right foot on my drivers. I drag my club to the inside slightly and throw my club "out to right field" which produces the draw I like. I feel like my arms might be too fast ( ahead of my hips) as this could cause a pull, but I am not sure if this is the case. Today when I played, I hit a ball for fun and I aimed over the tree line towards the street to see if the ballw ould come back, it ended up going over the tree line then hooking right back over the the oposite side rough.

I can only assume you mean your left foot and not right. Anyway, if you are in fact pulling down with your arms that could produce a little over the top action for sure

If the ball is off your big toe it could be too far forward and promoting that move. Try moving it back inside your stance opposite or inside your heel.

You said you're bringing the club to the inside on the backswing. Make sure it's only your hand path going to the inside, with the club staying outside your hands. Use less forearm roll to achieve this. This helps prevent getting stuck on the downswing. Ricky Fowler most famously and clearly uses this backswing, among others. Like tourspoon said, make sure the downswing isn't being initiated by the shoulders. You may need to feel more lower body here. You probably don't need to feel like your swinging to right field either. At some point the path of the club needs to track back to the left so the swing isn't too in to out. But ultimately, the club is likely too much from the inside when it's parallel to the ground on the downswing.

If you're starting your downswing with a hip rotation towards your target, it maybe causing the rest of your body to get too much on top of the ball.  Meaning you may be coming over the top.  Either way, a dead pull is an over-the-top golf swing which can be caused by many things.  If it is your hips that are rotating too early, try to think about starting your downswing with your hands first and then let your hips fire through the hit zone.

For your irons, if you're toping the ball, you're more than likely coming up and out of your stance and some point in your golf swing.  Try hitting balls on one foot, your front foot, to practice your balance and staying in your golf shot.

Sounds like a pretty good problem to have.. you know.. "the perfect drive".. :)

I would just aim right and hit that pull every time.

Bump...

I'm having this problem at the moment :(

The dead pull is a problem here, I know I'm coming in over the top and my hips are rotating too much maybe? It's frustrating. I open the club face a bit and it turns into a slice. This only started 2 months ago as I was a pretty consistent driver.

Dead pull or pull hook for me usually means I'm swinging back too much with the arms, not getting enough body turn (feeling like the back faces the target) on the backswing-- I feel stuck, and when I pivot on the downswing my arms fly out and come out to in. I usually spin out, with shoulders waaay left and hips less left, but still pointing significantly left of target. With longer clubs off the tee, it's severe enough to put me OB left on courses that aren't wide open. Occasionally the club face will be open and instead of a pull or pull hook, I'll hit monster balloon slices 100 yards right of target. So for me, the problem is the hips and shoulders not rotating enough on the backswing.

If I get a good, full hip and shoulder turn, I virtually eliminate the pull and pull hook. I sometimes still overdraw the ball, where it starts at or slightly right of target and turns over 10-20 yards depending on the length of the shot, but it's usually a playable miss and not hooks OB. I also hit more pushes, but these are usually playable mistakes.

Same exact issue here, i.e., pulling the driver with a very slight draw effect. I suspect it is arms overspeeding.

I can definitely see myself swinging back with my arms dominating the motion I'll try something different. Thank you for the help! Appreciate it.

Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
