I've been suffering from a bad back for a while and just one month ago, I aggravated my lower back from a previous injury. Playing golf has been put on hold for a while so I decided to try out something new with my clubs. My first project was to paint my putter. So far, I'm pleased with the results and I may move to custom painting my irons. I'll post pics of those once/if I get them finished.

I second this!  And because I grew up in a family of annoying USC fans (none of whom went there) I offer ...

Full disclosure:  I did not go to UCLA, but married a UCLA alum, so I do have a tie there.

For the record, I didn't go to USC either - didn't "qualify". My wife did and so did my oldest sister (Bachelor's and Masters). I went to University of San Francisco, but I really can't say much about the sports program aside from soccer and baseball - and golf (mvmac).

So you're fine.  But my brother and dad (and sister-in-law and mom) are die-hard fans like those of you who went there or had relatives that went there, and that makes no sense to me.  We do have an uncle (by marriage) who went there, but he doesn't count because my dad was a fan long before he married into the family.  Just don't get it.

And speaking of USF soccer, that brings me back to the 80's when I was a kid watching Fresno State (where I grew up and went to school incidentally) when we had a really good soccer team as well ... used to play you guys in NCAA tournaments all the time.  Then the soccer program got 86'ed by Title IX and that was that.

Anyways, sorry for straying so .   (The putter does look nice though ... just a little bit better with the blue)

Now that I started custom painting my clubs, you get tired of the colors really fast. That's why I changed away from the blue. But I think I'll keep the USC colors until after bowl season.

It's actually really easy to do. Most of the painting is really just putting drops of paint on the grooves, letting it dry, then wipe out the excess. No painting talent required.

      Awesome, thank you very much. I ended up giving them a call and you are right. Got to try out some different clubs, the first suggestion was the Wilson Staff Launch Pad irons I believe, the hybrid irons. Personally I wasn't liking them all too much, however they were much better than the old '74 MacGregor blades I've been playing. Then I tried a couple others, I forget what the one was but the one I ended up liking the best was the Cobra Aerojet irons. Overall feel and performance was the best for me on these, I also preferred the appearance and sound of these. Bit the bullet.

      Live Updates from the range! Open the club face at address, and trust that you’re gonna be able to get the face in a good position at impact. I don’t have to feel like I have to keep the face open throughout the entire downswing. The swing feels much more free-flowing through impact. Difference in ball flight is that previously it would be a low to mid trajectory that starts straight and draw left, or slight pulls. New ball flight are high push draws.  It’s kind of stupid. I feel like it should slice off the planet. I look up and it’s maybe a slight push. 🤣 Some distant wedge feels. More weight on front foot. Keep weight on front foot.  Pivot around left knee. Solid contact all the time.

      Day 2:  I hit a bucket of balls this morning.  Not gonna lie, almost didn’t go since it was my first time going alone and it was a little intimidating.  I mostly hit with my driver (the last bit of balls was with my 7 iron).  The sun was in my face but I think the ones that had good contact with went the furthest yet (maybe 150 yards then a good roll?).  Once I switched to my 7, the first half of my balls were crap.  I’ve always hit my irons before my driver when practicing and done fine - does this make any difference or is it just because I’m so green?
