Ya, it was a boring week of golf all around tbh. Not Rory's fault or anything, watching him was great, he played amazingly well. But wasn't near as fun to watch as the other majors this year.

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

Titleist 913 D2 9.5* w/ UST Mamiya ATTAS 3 80 w/ Harrison Shotmaker & Billy Bobs afternarket Hosel Adaptor (get this if you don't have it for your 913)
Wilson Staff Ci-11 4-GW (4I is out of the bag for a hybrid, PW and up were replaced by Edel Wedges)
TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

It was 'boring' from the standpoint of a runaway win without a real serious contender.

But two things I enjoyed watching -

1. Rory kicking ass. Nothing like a player so in control of his game. When he faced 6-8 foot par putts on the back nine, you know he was thinking 'clean card' and I found myself rooting for him to do it.

2. Kiawah Island. Thats is one beautiful course! Those views were just majestic. They have to find a way to get more tour events there rather than a once-a-decade major.

This is not what you guys are discussing, but, I would like to know this.  Do you think RM's swing is similar to the typical pro swing?  I personally think he is swinging the clubhead, and not using the standard approach.  What do you think?

The problem with statements like that is that they're vague enough that nobody really has a clue what you're talking about, and you're free to shift the definitions of "standard approach" and "swinging the clubhead" around all you want.

Rory's swing is as much like the modern golf swing as any on the PGA Tour, IMO.

I agree that Rory's setup is the same as other PGA pros, but, his swing seems much more fluid, and hits the ball a ton for a smallish individual.  There is a match coming up between Tiger and Rory, and exhibition match in Asia coming in October.  This will be a good time to compare the swing's for both players.  We can't know for sure, but I believe the clubhead focus for Cory leads  his     swing, much more so that Tiger's.  Tiger seems to use a lot more energy, swings harder than Cory.  It's just a question, and an observation.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
