Scotty Putter vs ?

I am looking for a new putter and I want a Scotty but with the price being very high i was wanting to know some other good comparable putters. Thanks!

It depends on which Scotty you are interested in.  Ping, Nike, TM, and Odyssey all make good putters.  Most lower priced putters will have an insert versus the more expensive ones which are solid steel.

Go to your local golf store and try some out, I'm sure you'll find a lower cost model that works well for you.

I've heard good things about the Cleveland Classic line of putters, many models are under $100. Might be worth checking out.

I too would love to own a Scotty Putter but why spend so much when a cheaper putter works just fine.  Mine cost $30 (I think) 15 years ago and works great.  Putting is more about technique, the equipment won't make a huge difference.  It's not like a driver where a $30 club is MUCH different than a $300 club.  Find something that works for you and stick with it.

Just about any other brand of milled putter is just as good as a Scotty.  Cameron is the king of marketing and convincing people that his putters are magical and better than everything else, even though all he does is take classic designs and put his little spin on them.

Get something that actually is fit to you - Edel, at a comparable price.

FWIW I second Mr. Desmond's post. The last putter you'll ever need to own because it's truly fit for you.

FWIW I second Mr. Desmond's post. The last putter you'll ever need to own because it's truly fit for you.

They're only better if they're banned.

I just realized your handicap says you're new to golf.  With that said don't waste your money on a Scotty Cameron. Look at my signature, the putter I have listed in it is the same putter I bought when I was 8 or 9.  It's a decent putter.  If Scotty is what you like, then find a cheaper putter that has the same weight to it and work with that for a while.  If you feel you still need to upgrade to a scotty do it later rather then later.   You may find that a cheaper putter under $100 works for you too.
