I am going to get new wedges soon and I think I'll be going with scor wedges. I've seen some of their videos online and they seem like nice clubs. Right now my PW is 44* so I was thinking about going with 49/54/59 degree wedges. I think the 5 degree gap will be fine for me but I might go 48/52/56 instead. Any of you guys play scor wedges? If so what do you think. I can't try before I buy so I am looking for some opinions. I plan on ordering one first to see if I like it if I decide to go with these.

Look very interesting.

I've been curious about this company for a little while now. I'm excited to check out a fresh review.

Listened to a previously published Golf Smarter Podcast this afternoon and they had the president of Scor wedge company on air. The interview was really interesting hearing his theories on modern scoring irons and wedges in our sets we buy today. I went home and checked out the website and read the PGA show 2012 review of their product. It seems really legit.

I play a set of TM burner plus irons and as my game has improved since getting into golf 1.5 years ago, Ive noticed that the fat cavity back 9, PW and GW in my set just lacks the feel Ive learned to love with the 56 and 60 vokeys in my bag. It seems like being able to customize these wedges to match your current scoring clubs' lofts could help my game a good bit.  Especially inside 150.

Anyone used these yet?  Any thoughts?

I love the idea behind these, and I think there is a lot to be said for custom lofts. I hate the gapping on most sets of irons; too many have a strong pitching wedge despite the pointlessness of it, and the bounce and grind are nice to have control over; the 8 iron and up aren't just clubs for a set distance like the mid irons, they are situational clubs. You might use a 52 for chipping, a 56 from sand, a low bounce 60 for short shots, and have a number of bounce options for specialty shots. Most sets treat the 8, 9, and PW without thought to versatility and efficiency.

I like that a set of these might open up a club at the top of one's bag, which can make a big difference in going after par 5s, for example, or an extra wedge. I dislike that the cost per club is a bit steep, though the customization and the size of the company account for that, and the waste of money inherent in buying a full iron set just to discard the short irons.

I'm fairly certain we talked about these wedges elsewhere, but this thread comes up, so I'll contribute here.

I recently found my old review of these clubs and had only two sections unwritten: the last part of the "performance" section and most of the conclusion.

I've since finished them - they were tough to write because they're not overwhelmingly positive - and will publish the review tomorrow morning at http://thesandtrap.com/b/clubs/scor_4161_wedges_review .

There's a lot of talking but little else. I was going to buy a full set but held off because of the lack of REAL reviews!

Anyway, the link doesn't work, and the discussion is locked.

We were apparently given prototypes, so I took the review down as we don't review prototypes. We'll look to re-review the clubs if we get the updated ones, but we'll also get some member reviews of these coming out soon as well.

Tin Man,

We have a reviews section of our website that has quite an extensive directory of reviews written by third-parties.  We also have done quite a bit of forum testing on other sites, you can check out many of these on YouTube if you like.  As mentioned above, we will have member reviews coming soon with The Sand Trap and an updated review coming from iacas.  Hopefully you will get all your questions answered.  Let us know if there is any other info we can provide you with that you're not finding out there.  Thanks for thinking of SCOR Golf!

The million dollar question is why do you want them.  Is it the vast number of lofts?  Price? performance(likely fantasy not reality) Just like the thought?  "seem like nice clubs" is HIGHLY SUBJECTIVE

Personally I would go with Cleveland 588 or Titleist Vokey because they are pros top choices.  I think Titleist just edged out 588 for top spot.

Also do you want to compete then they need to conform to new groove rules.

Here is the only review on here I could find (from Tristan) ... http://thesandtrap.com/products/scor-4161-wedge/reviews/4377

I remember reading a review that Erik had done and it wasn't very positive.  Specifically, he did not like that the wedges had a grind such that the bounce wasn't nearly as "useable" as advertised.  However, he took his review down because they were prototypes, so maybe that issue has been resolved.

Interesting thanks for the reviews! Yeah it really does bother me that I can't try them especially when they cost so much. I wish I would have seen Eriks review but it's understandable that he took it down. I guess I will go try out a few other brands and see how they are before I take the risk with these.

My main complaint was that the clubs had very little bounce. Almost none. They might have had a high degree of bounce but the forward part of the sole that had the bounce was about a quarter of an inch thick. So, basically no bounce.

I took it down because they told me that the prototype wedges were meant for photography only and they weren't sure how I got them anyway. Their PR firm sent them to me.

Bounce is VERY IMPORTANT to wedges - their whole "V-Sole" thing is a bounce-based technology - so the review became worthless if the product I tested was not accurate or similar to the production wedges.

I cannot/won't review wedges again because since that time I've become an Edel wedge fitter, so there would be a perception of bias even if I expressed none and wrote a glowing review.
