If PRO V1 Did'nt exsist! What would be the #1 ball?

After ProV1 balls, I would have to say Callaways are next in line for Me.

Yeah, I've always liked Callaway too so I guess I'd pick their new premium ball, what is it the HX Tour. But not sure I understand the point since the Pro V1 does exist

I wasn't all that impressed with the Callaway balls. I like Srixon Z-URS, Titleist Pro V1 and Bridgestone B330-S a lot more than the HX Tour's. To each his own though, the Callaway's spin really well, but I didn't like putting with them (they seemed to jump off my putter head, and i was often long on putts). Maybe I was just having a bad day with the putter, but I played the front 9 with Callaway's and had 24 putts, when i switched back over to Sirxon's on the back it dropped to 14 putts for the 9.

Titleist NXT Tour for me. Then Callaway HX Tour, Pinnacle Gold Long Drive, Maxfli Noodle, and then all the rest of them.

Whatever ball is Titleist's 2nd best ball at the time.

Seriously, I've been playing golf for 35 years and I can't remember a time when Titleist didn't have the #1 ball.

That's about the size of it. A Titleist ad in the 06.23.07 issue of Golfweek says (obviously just part of the ad), "Titleist was the #1 ball played in the U.S. Open for the 59th consecutive year." The ad also mentions that Angel Cabrera won the U.S. Open playing the Pro V1x and mentions Masters champion Zach Johnson as a "Titleist ambassador."

Also in the same issue a Golfweek feature (not an ad) noted that 107 U.S. Open players played Titleist balls (40 - Pro V1, 67 - Pro V1x) with Callaway finishing 2nd in the ball count with 16 players (not broken down by HX Tour, etc.).

I would use Callaway, Bridgestone or Srixon if Titleist didn't exist. I still do interchange them most of the time.

I have never used ProV1, but the best ball I've ever hit [found twice or three times] was the Nike O.N.E.

Nike ONE's I love, but if I had $40 to spend on a dozen of golf balls, I'd choose the HX Tour 56. They seem to stop (more spin) better then Pro v1's IMO. I love those, but $40 a dozen is too pricey. The highest I go is $30 a dozen for Nike ONE platinum's.

If the PRO V1 didnt exist id say that Nike would probably rule that numero uno spot right now. My personal preference would probably be the Callaway ball as well.

I got a dozen Srixon Z-URC from the pro I bought my driver from. They're a really good golf ball; durable, long and great around the greens. They're also about $8 cheaper per dozen over the Pro-V's.

I played with a Bridgestone B330-S on the back 9 yesterday and it was the best back 9 I've ever hit. The ball felt great off the Tee, around the green and was great with the putter. I attribute the 4 one putts to the ball.

I agree, the srixon z-urc are excellent and they have a slightly firmer feel than the pro v1 whilst retaining spin.

I really am a big fan of the new Taylor Made TP's... they just lack the durability of the Pro V1's.

Pro V1's are durable?

Seriously, they don't last long with me. On average it's 4 or 5 holes before I have to retire it, and get a new one out. I beat 'em up pretty good. My wedge sometimes chews them up. They get their share of tree and cart path action, as well.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
