C'mon, Mr. Palin.

We WERE ALREADY a socialist-capitalist society since the early part of the last century. Look at the tax code of the last century - it is progressive and socialistic while also serving as a feeder to certain private industries such as real estate, oil, banks, etc.

It is a BALANCE. Sometimes, like, I don't know, maybe DURING THE GREATEST RECESSION SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION, the balance is skewed to helping private business AND private individuals. The GOP began the bailout, or does that memory escape you? And they did it in what they thought was in our best interests. Obama helped the Auto Industry GET TO bankruptcy. Without government cash, they would not have gotten into court on their own, and with a plan of survival. Desperate Times called for Desperate measures. And now the government is attempting to divest itself of its private holdings, generating cash, as big business has recovered and is hoarding cash.

The problem with the recovery is a failure of leadership on both ends. Obama, being a Constitutional Professor, tends to let the Legislative Branch lead - that was his mistake. Americans expect an imperial Presidency - someone who actively leads. On the other hand, the GOP has not assisted with its majority for the last 2 years, with a Jobs Program, has blocked a recovery, took the nation to the brink in last year's Debt Deal to save a few millionaires, and is generally lacking in leadership.

Both sides have not shown imagination or leadership - creative solutions to today's problems. It's not rocket scientist. But these two sides are entrenched in a battle for power, instead of a battle to assist its citizens.

Good luck out there.

I should have stopped reading when you claimed that a flat tax was a "fair" system, ignorant comments like that just demonstrate your willful dishonesty.  But this is just stupid.  Stop embarrassing yourself.

Now here's the test.  Will David in FL actually read the article then come back and say that he was wrong?  How do you create a poll?

My guess is, derp de derp...

Please watch the name calling.  I get you disagree but let's keep it civil.

You should just come to California then.  Since it's all about electoral votes still, and most states are winner take all and California is always going to vote blue, nobody bothers out here.  I heard somewhere that both candidates are spending an enormous percentage (don't remember the number, could've been 50%, could've been 90%) of their campaign funding in just the 3 (or 4) swing states out there. Lucky for you, you are in one of them.

That's probably why I'm a moderate. Could vote either way on this one. Awaiting the debate. Whoever looks less dumb will have my vote. Too bad we can't write in someone with actual convictions who cares about the country more than their own campaign. Jack did the right thing, endorsing someone he believes in. Unfortunate that politicians are politicians :-(

Wait!

A minute... Even Romney doesn't know what he believes in. The flip, the flop, the etch-a-sketch?

"Okay, is this a right wing crowd or a moderate crowd? C'mon, guys, which script do I run with here? No, I don't take off the cuff questions. Weren't you in London? Didn't my aide make that clear? Everything must be scripted, unless of course, you're paying me $50k at a private home with no video. I said, 'no video!"

I stand corrected :-) He stood by the party of his beliefs, then.

Somehow, I doubt is Jack is that right wing. But I deal with a lot of people at a similar age, and the problem is ...

Fox News.

I see clients at their homes, and Fox is 24/7. They are beaten down. But when the world is confusing, many find it best to stick with the party they voted back in the 60's, and still think it's the same Party...

Not quite the point I was making. But, it was not Socialism that got the world into the monetary melt down that we are all striving to get out of now.

Rampant Capitalist greed was, and remains, the culprit. And, even though I am not over there, I would not qualify as part of Mitt the Mutts 49% of cast offs in case you were wondering.

Still, vote for him if you must but don't get disappointed when his favoured 51% becomes less and less as he and his cronies pursue their vendetta against the less financially privileged.

Wise man ...

For the GOP, this election is about their rich getting richer, no regulation, another financial meltdown by banks and Wall Street, and strapping austerity on its citizenry. Austerity? It's what the Euros tried and are suffering with more than 12% unemployment.  And who suffers when that happens? It ain't the wealthy.

Good luck out there.

Just curious, where are you, Greece? Somewhere else in the good ole Capitalist EU? Can you really say that with a straight face and expect ANY kind of credibility? When you use a term like "financially privileged" you show your true stripes......comrade.

Nope, neither a Greek or a Comrade. Could be argued by some that I am one of the financially privileged inasmuch as I have enough to live on comfortably.

I am neither a Capitalist or a Socialist, preferring to be a Humanitarian: which would not go down to well with Mitt the Mutt, or yourself it seems.

okay, um. okay.  I think we need some sort of referee here.  Debates like this are fine, but you can't just not play by the rules.  Your above quote is not an argument.  It is a fallacy... one of the, um, most basic ones.  For your sake, I hope you don't make arguments like this in public where people can actually see your face. Wow this is embarrassing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_ignorance

The post to which I responded claimed that "any real research" would prove me wrong. I simply asked to see that research. Please familiarize yourself with the context of a post before you respond and embarrass yourself further.

You're actually citing an article from Think Progress to support your position?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...........! Perhaps I should start citing The Heritage Foundation. I won't though. I understand their bias, and although I agree with most of what they say, I wouldn't insult anyone by trying to pass it off as the unvarnished truth in a discussion such as this.

I'm curious. How do you define humanitarian? I only ask so that I can understand why, in your eyes, neither Mr Romney nor I would qualify. One note.....I would have expected a humanitarian to be less insulting, even towards those with differing opinions, but then again, I don't know your personal definition.....

Dem's don't want to hear that stuff, makes them seem like hypocrites today.

As for the financially privileged, let's not make it seem like Mitt is the only guy with money running for president.  Joe Biden doesn't realize according to his parties definition, he's financially privileged, but he calls himself middle class.

Think Progress reported it, but the information comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics!  My balls can report something from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and it would still be credible.

Republicans, just because you only listen to people that agree with you while not looking at the facts, doesn't mean the rest of us operate the same way.  How do you still function in this world?

LOL zippy you're a funny guy sometimes.  Sorry my point was too abstract for you to comprehend.  I was simply pointing out the double standard the dems have with regards to releasing personal documents.  I wasn't bringing his birth nation into question, just highlighting the double standard that when a dem says something is true, documented proof isn't required, but with Romney they want proof.

I guess you also believe Obama was transparent, and didn't do all those behind close door deals he accused the GOP doing during GW's years too.

Alas, we allow ignorant people to vote. We just don't allow people without a government-issued ID to vote.

But hey, keep it up. If you eventually keep repeating a lie maybe enough people will believe it. Couple that with efforts to disenfranchise millions of people, mainly minorities, from voting, and maybe Romney has a chance.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
