Somehow I get the feeling that we are stirring up a competitive round between two packs? LOL

@Golfingdad, I like your description of MSq.  Courses with fewer chances to lose balls and more chances to recover from bad tee shots are definitely up my alley!

I did a google earth walk through since I've never been there, looks like a fun layout with a bunch of spots with a fun decision on the tee (at least for us amateurs without scratch accuracy!), where a long iron or hybrid's a reasonable play distance wise and gives you a big landing zone but if you're feeling good with the big stick you could get it really close but into a tighter landing zone.

If we're gonna do two five-somes, maybe best 4 out of 5 balls instead of 3?  Seems like with only 3-ball the 3rd through 5th guys on each team will spend a lot of holes where they make a not so great tee shot (at least mentally) picking up or trying to make ridiculous miracle approach shots on the off chance they work?

I agree with this. I have been following from Illinois. I have a bunch of friends in the SD area I was really looking into heading west this weekend and joining up, but with the holidays coming up that idea got axed.

It was a great setting, the players course off the championship tees was a little challenging for me. However, I really enjoyed this tourney. I hope to participate again and have my son join as well (he would enjoy this course). If some of the other high handicap players joined in, we could have played off the white tees on the classic course. Hope there will be two groups for future tourneys. If not, I would still join. Great meeting fellow bloggers.

GolfingDad's swing looks better! I haven't played with him in awhile and he clearly played his best golf I've seen him play. Congrats on playing quite well! Lihu, sorry we missed you in the clubhouse. Thanks for coming out and playing. You're a trooper for playing from the tips. The course was nearly 6,800 at sea level. And was damp, wet and cold. So probably played considerably longer than the number. I know there were more than one par four where I had longer approach shots than I'm used to. One in particular I had 197 in, and hit an above average drive in the fairway from a box of 430. So again, thanks for playing with us and hanging in there. Maybe next time, anyone +15 HDCP can play from one box closer? Would probably help? JimDangles, thanks for playing today bud. You hit some stellar shots, and really thought you played much better than your score. You have game and I look forward to playing again. That flop sho t from that downhill lie that you chipped in was touresque! Overall, even though I struggled with my game, I had a great time playing with you guys and hope to do it again this Spring. I think we should do this at least once a quarter as we have some decent golfers and even better dudes to hang and have fun. The winning team in action!

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
